    Multi sport athletes

Here's some that came to mind for me:

Dave Winfield: HOF baseball player who was drafted by MLB, NFL, NBA & ABA

Tony Gwynn: HOF baseballer who played guard on the San Diego St. b-ball team & was also drafted by NBA (I think)

Rick Leach: QB'd skunkbears to the Rose Bowl before choosing MLB as his pro sport of choice. Unfortunately, he flopped as a Detroit Tiger (cocaine probably didn't help).

Ron Reed: pitched for Braves & Phillies & played in NBA

Chuck Connors: great actor (The Rifleman) played MLB for the Brooklyn Dodgers and pro b-ball for the Celtics.

Steve Garvey: All-star 1st baseman played f-ball at Michigan St.

Kirk Gibson: All-American WR for MSU was drafted by NFL's St. Louis Cardinals & MLB's Detoit Tigers where he turned in some great post season moments for the Tigers & Dodgers.

Jackie Robinson: Starred in football, baseball & track at UCLA before breaking the color barrier of MLB w/ the Brooklyn Dodgers...the rest is history.

Kenny Lofton: prolific basestealer for many a MLB team was the starting guard for Arizona Wildcats.

Bob Gibson & Fergie Jenkins: both HOF pitchers played w/ the Harlem Globetrotters.

Danny Ainge: broke ND's back w/ BYU in NCAA tourney before playing MLB w/ the Toronto Blue Jays where his anemic hitting led him to choose an NBA career.

Michael Jordan: didn't make it to the show, but all considering he hadn't played organized baseball since high school he represented himself nicely in the minors.

Chris Wienke: Toronto Blue Jays organization before winning the Heisman.

D.J. Dozier: One time Penn St. star running back had a cup of coffee w/ the NY Mets.

Yeah, I guess I left out the obvious. Might as well throw Deion in there, too.

Ha might as well? Deion wasn't nearly as good as Bo as a two sport athlete (although Bo's run was far too short) but Deion was pretty good himself.

Jim Brown is still considered one of the best to ever play lacrosse. Which reminds me of Will Yeatman. Carlson also played basketball for a year.

Carl Crawford was a good one. He had scholarship offers for baseball, football (Nebraska as an option QB, if memory serves), and I think track was the 3rd one. Obviously, he signed a deal after the MLB draft, but he is a multi-sport stud from recent memory.

Also, Yankees reliever Kyle Farnsworth was collegiate linebacker. Too bad his tackle of Paul Wilson pre-dates youtube.
I treasure my remark to a grandson who asked, "Grandpa, were you a hero in the war?" "No", I answered, "But I served in a company of heroes".
