ESPN- Zero 5*, fifteen 4*, four 3*, avg. stars- 3.79 Team Rank- #8 behind USC, UF, scUM, Bama, pOSU, Auburn, and Texas.

Composite- One 5*, thirteen 4*, five 3*, avg. stars- 3.76 Team Rank- #4 behind USC, scUM, and Bama.

ESPN is the only site that does not list Jaylon Smith as a 5*. Interestingly enough they are also the only one to give Michael Deeb a 4*. Every one of the 19 ND verbals has a 4* ranking from at least one of the recruiting services, and all but Deeb, Mattingly, and Robinson have 4* rankings from multiple services.
A more important measure would be AVERAGE stars. That still leaves us at#10 currently. If BK manages to get a couple more guys that keep our avg stars where it is or higher, then this will be a consensus Top10 class. [even after other teams reel in a few more guys]

Uh, if you say so, thanks so much for your input,

but since you bothered to quote the whole current rankings of all 4 recruiting sites maybe you should have clarified that ND is #10 in average stars on Rivals only which has the lowest average stars ranking out of all 4. The 3.76 composite star ranking that ND has from all 4 sites would be the third highest average stars on Rivals right now.

Irregardless of that average stars is not a more important measure, especially not at this point in the recruiting cycle. Two teams with higher current average star rankings on Rivals have only 14 & 8 Verbals respectively. If the recruiting cycle was over would you say that those two teams had better recruiting classes than ND has right now, or for that matter if at the end of a cycle a team has 20 recruits and a 3.50 star average and another team has only 10 recruits and a 3.75 star average in your mind does that mean the team that had 10 recruits had a more successful recruiting year.

BTW, don't bother to answer that last part, I already know your answer.

Current 2012 Recruiting Team Rankings for ND:

    Scout #3
    Rivals #4
    247 #5
ESPN #7 (ESPN has not updated their Team Rankings to reflect the Torii Hunter Jr. Verbal)

  5. #25
    Current rankings:

Rivals- One 5*, twelve 4*, nine 3*, avg. stars- 3.64 Team Rank- #2 behind USC.

Scout- One 5*, sixteen 4*, five 3*, avg. stars- 3.82 Team Rank- #3 behind scUM & USC.

247- One 5*, sixteen 4*, five 3*, avg. stars- 3.82 Team Rank- #6 behind USC, Bama, Auburn, UF, and scUM.

ESPN- Zero 5*, eighteen 4*, four 3*, avg. stars- 3.82 Team Rank- #6 behind USC, UF, scUM, Bama, and pOSU.

The ESPN Team Ranking has not been updated for Cole Luke's verbal.

Interesting that Scout, 247, and ESPN, all have the exact same average stars for ND. Rivals who gives out fewer 5* than anyone else has a lower star average for ND but gives the Irish the highest team ranking of all 4 sites.

Per Rivals, Massillon (Ohio) Washington three-star cornerback Gareon Conley is a Michigan pledge no more.
