I treasure my remark to a grandson who asked, "Grandpa, were you a hero in the war?" "No", I answered, "But I served in a company of heroes".

i was 31 at linebacker in HS and college... its my powerball number every time i play the lottery

but personally, we had a bada*s at lb/de who wore 9 (like zibby).... i think a single digit on an intense Defensive player with agility at LB is intimidating... i would like to see manti wearing 5 or something close...

The tradition of 3 at qb has seemed to have passed... you heard of montana calling rick meier telling him to wear it proud... then the same with ron powlus... it would be cool to see manti start something like that LB...

I wish B. Newman would wear like 6 or something. That would be awesome. Big ole' NG wearing a single digit. That would be epic.

We wouldn't be talking about numbers if their names were on the jersey. I really hope it is just a bowl thing.

Not really. I start this thread every year.

In baseball I was #9. In Basketball and football I was #23.

I am fine with the names on the jerseys though.

I went ahead and just bought me a #5 jersey. Maybe I will wait to open it or wear it until I get confirmation that Manti Te'o will wear #5. I think if anyone waits for that confirmation before buying it, all #5's will be sold out and there will be a wait for more.

Combine the arrival of Manti with what should be a great year for Armando Allen and #5 will be an extremely popular jersey number. Armando has 2 more years and Manti has up to 6 years (mission) as #5.

So the above two sites have a great variety of jersey numers, especialy the 2nd one, however, they don't have the #5 in white in many sizes. Get'em while you can.

I am thinking the same thing about Shaq. I bet he would prefer 2, 4, 6 or 8 over 11. Interesting that 3 of those 4 numbers are CBs and the other is a S. I will stick with 11 though because I don't know which single digit he'd want and maybe CW would prefer to reserve some of them for 2010 kids.
