With the exception of the NHL Playoffs and the Championship, I hate this time of the year for sports and especially the summer (I am a Cubs fan, so baseball does nothing for me). So to generate some discussion (hopefully), I was curious to what others on here think that are college football programs that are on the up and up and who is on the downward spiral.

I think as long as Coach Strong is at Louisville, they have a great thing going. I know they benefited from a very weak Big Easy conference, but I can easily see that program doing very well, same with (gag me) michigan (sucks). Hoke is the real deal. Besides Harbaugh, Hoke was the second candidate that I didn't want to see end up there. Enough praise for that school. A & M is another one that is going to do well. I don't believe they'll do as well as they did last year, but Sumlin is a damn good coach. Johnny Football is a jag, but a pretty good QB. I think they were fortunate to play Bama when they did last year, so let's see how they do this year against them when they aren't coming off a night game against LSU like they did last year. Last, but not least, ND of coarse. Kelly is living up to his reputation of a program builder. He has ND going in the right direction and a few more 'upgrades' at ND could really get ND up there with the Bama's in college football. We still have some areas to address on the roster, but they are doing that. Love where they are heading.

Decline: Texas. I don't get how they haven't stayed consistent. They have talent and I didn't think Mack Brown was that bad of a coach. USC I understand why they have underachieved, especially last year. FSU has been so so, thought they would be doing better under Coach Fisher. I am tempted to throw Sparty on this list also.

What do you all think?

Does Amir at some point get more snaps? Or does Bryant or Folston steal the show?

Like to hear thoughts on what may occur at RB.
Granted, Amir may see a lot of time at slot, and much of this depends on how well GA3 does.

So basically, who gets more carries this year?

Judging an OL by draft picks, ND's line has not been "Championship" level for awhile. In the last 19 years since Holtz, ND has had only 4 OL drafted in the top four rounds. In the 8 years from 87 to 94, ND had 10 OL go in the first four rounds. So the Irish went from more than one "good" graduating OL each year to just one "good" one about every five years.

In comparison, Alabama had zero OL drafted in first four rounds from 1986 to 1999, 3 from 2000 to 2005, and 7 since 2009.
Ohio State, which went 12-0 in coach Urban Meyer's first season, jumps two-time defending national champion Alabama for the top spot. I'm not saying the Buckeyes are a better football team than the Crimson Tide; I'm saying Ohio State has an easier path to an undefeated record this coming season.
In case you haven't noticed, Urban Meyer still hasn't lost a game as Ohio State's coach. Now, here's the scary part for the rest of the Big Ten: the Buckeyes might be more talented and face a much easier schedule in 2013 than they did last season, when they went 12-0 in Meyer's first season at OSU. Yes, the Buckeyes have to replace most of their front seven on defense, but Meyer and his staff have recruited very well to rebuild that side of the ball. Another perfect season isn't out of the question for OSU in 2013. It doesn't play Nebraska or Michigan State during the regular season and gets Wisconsin, Iowa and Penn State at home. Sure, the Buckeyes might have to defeat an SEC opponent to win a BCS National Championship, but Meyer already has proved he's capable of doing it.For more on how the Buckeyes' recruiting class is shaping up, check out Ohio State's spring wrap and ESPN RecruitingNation's class rankings.

Jesse Bongiovi, the son of 1980s pop-metal star Jon Bon Jovi, has decided to walk on to the Notre Dame football team this fall, according to a report on Tuesday from the National Football Post.

The 5-foot-11, 180-pounder from Brooklyn's Poly Prep Country Day is also a standout in lacrosse and hopes to play cornerback for the Irish, although he is open to another position.

His chances of actually playing significant minutes during his time at Notre Dame are no doubt living on a prayer. Hopefully, for the Irish's sake, he won't give football a bad name.
