Koehne was invited to and did very well at the San Antonio Junior Combine. He will most likely be a 4 star OL when the recruiting boards’ ratings expand for the 2009 Class. So far he has offers from only Indiana and Iowa, but OSU is very interested in Koehne, and Tressel would like nothing better than to grab a top flight OT from the state of Indiana. Latest info attributed to Koehne also appears that OSU & BC are his current favorites, and he does not even mention ND in his Top 6. However that could change quickly with an Irish offer.

Depends, we already offered Shrive and Nixon who are better players, and we have our eye on another monster tackle from Minnesota in the 10 class. I don't think we offer personally.

Profile Updated with Scout 300 Ranking , Scout Position Ranking, and Scout Star Rating.

Koehne is the 4th Indiana kid on the Scout 300, and he will be a Top 5 Indiana player on Rivals when they come out with their state rankings. He is now up to four offers, from Indiana, Iowa, NC State and Cincinnati. ND appears to be still interested in Kyle, but also appear to be in no rush to offer him either. The good news here is that McSweaterVest appears to be backing off a bit on Koehne, which may give the Irish some more time on whether to decide Kyle is up to being one of the 4 projected OL recruits for ND for the Class of 2009.

Profile Updated to reflect latest Rivals and Scout rankings.

Although he is still not ranked by Rivals, Kyle continues his climb up the Scout boards moving up 65 slots to #226 and moving up 12 positions slots in their OT rankings from #31 to #19. Koehne would probably have an Irish offer if ND did not feel they were still in the hunt with both Shrive and Nixon. I think he will eventually get one, but will it be in time for him to pick ND.

I do have to say that 6-6, 300 may be an underestimation. He could definitely be 6-7, 320. He's big, and Cathedral has had a history of good O-linemen (Jeremy Trueblood for instance).

Kyle will be attending an ND camp this month, still working for an Irish offer. With Patrick Ward not planning on camping, Koehne now seems to be more likely to be offered than Ward.

Koehne obviously is, especially if he shows up at camp. Ward was invited and declined and is being a bit of a baby about it, and it seems clear that he will not get an offer unless he is willing to camp. His defense and it has some validity is that he has been to ND like 4 times already, why does he have to come again to get an offer. Things could change (like a quick Schofield commit to scUM) but at this point in time I think Koehne is more likely to get an offer than Ward.

My guess is he will go to IU. They are in his top 2, and players who are highly recruited here normally end up in state.

He's a big guy. I still prefer Kakpindi Jamiru over him. He's ripped and he's fast. I'm pretty sure he's being recruited by Northern Illinois.

Sparty & BC are the only two of those four schools that have offered Kyle. It sort of tells you where he stands with ND since he included scUM & UF, and not ND, despite not getting offers from any of the three.

With Lowe, Watt, Nixon, Martin and still left on our OL board. And Ward and Koehne seem to be not as high on the list for the ND staff what does everyone think about offering any other prospects out there higher on the board than these two or are we just going to hope the best for these four a pick up more OL next year?

JDubbs

I trust the staff's evaluations. Remember Brian Smith? He should contribute bigger than he did last year. He may never be an All American, be he can lock down a spot for us for 3 more years. You have the most success for that at O line. We are in need of at least a couple bodies.

So that being said. This guy camped at ND twice. They had every opportunity to offer this kid and chose not to. I do however trust them to be involved with their O line situation enough to know where they stand with guys already offered and evaluate accordingly. The staff will be up on O Lineman who have performed well in their Senior year and they will get a guy not even on our radar right now, but is lurking in the shadows of the staffs mind. We know two things: They need bodies, as per Charlie's stated desire to have 15 at all times, our staff respects the value of an ND offer more than any staff since Holtz(Cerrato years), if you get the offer, they think you could be pretty good.

The 6-6, 285-pound Koehne has narrowed his choices to Boston College, Florida, Michigan and Michigan State.

"It's been a little more intense than I thought it would be," said Koehne, rated as a three-star recruit by rivals.com. "I've enjoyed it, but I'd like to have it done before the season."

i wasn't trying to argue. i think unless we are the recruit we are pretty safe in relying on the scout/rivals profiles for who has offered. i don't have access to rivals, scout shows the offer lists for free. scout didn't list him with one, so me saying i didn't think he had an offer from BC is reasonable.

I seriously feel bad for this kid, holding out for a Florida offer. He must really be under the Slimeball's spell, and I don't think he has even been to Gainesville yet. I can understand the lure of Florida but I still can not figure out how these kids, especially one from Indiana, can not see through the slimy veneer of the Slimeball's expressions.

Kyle, do yourself a favor. Read what Randy Shannon and one of your fellow 2009 recruits, Vlad Emilien, had to say about Florida and the Slimeball after last week's game. Besides, realistically your only chance of getting a Florida offer was if ND had offered, and that ship has sailed.

Vlad the Impaler was not impressed with the Gators after he took an Official Visit there for the Miami game last weekend. So unimpressed that on Monday he dropped them from the list of schools he is considering. He said he didn't get a good vibe from the Gators. Finally someone who sees through the Slimeball, Vlad needs to talk to both this kid Koehne, and Zeke Motta.

As for Shannon, this is what he had to say after the game.

http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/college/hurricanes/sfl-umfollow090708,0,6964383.story

Miami coach Randy Shannon said the 26-3 loss at Florida on Saturday boosted his recruiting, and not just because the Hurricanes competed for three quarters as heavy underdogs.

Shannon didn't mention Florida coach Urban Meyer's name, but implied that Meyer's decision to kick a field goal in the final seconds fired up some UM recruits who called him after the game.

"Sometimes when you do things and people see what kind of person you really are, you turn a lot of people off," Shannon said Sunday. "Take from that what you want. It helped us more than you will ever know."

This in turn prompted a vomit wrenching rebuttal from the Slimeball's own Erwin Rommel, aka Tim Tebow, which I will not post here. Either Tebow is the most delusional dude on the planet or the biggest fraud. My cynical side makes me vote on the latter choice especially after listening to Musberger and Erin Andrews practically beatify Tebow on Saturday night.

Shannon's remarks have also started a war of words between the Miami and Florida Rivals sites.

OL Koehne down to two

Tuesday, September 23, 2008
Posted by Bill Kurelic

Offensive lineman Kyle Koehne (Indianapolis/Cathedral) is one of the top uncommitted prospects in the Midwest. It remains to be seen how much longer Koehne goes without selecting a college, but it is almost certain that when he does, it won't be to a school in the region in which he resides.

The 6-foot-6, 285-pound Koehne, a three-year starter at offensive tackle, has scholarship offers from: Florida, Boston College, Indiana, Michigan State, Iowa, Louisville, N.C. State and a few others.

Koehne made an official visit to Boston College the weekend of Sept. 6 when the Eagles played Georgia Tech. He will make an official visit to Florida either this weekend when the Gators play Ole Miss or the weekend of Oct. 11 when LSU travels to Gainesville.

"Those are my top two right now, but that could change," Koehne said. "Most likely I'll decide after I visit Florida."

Continued...

I looked on Rivals and according to them.. Kyle still has no offer from the slimeball.

From what I heard he was interested in ND early on but never could get an ND offer. With Martin aboard I think the staff thinks we might be good at RT where Koehne projects, only really holding off for Nixon a more true LT. And when ND didnt offer over the summer he looked elsewhere. I semi surprised that he got an offer from UF. Congrats to him though.
