Hazelett is a very intriguing prospect. At 6'6" (been listed up to 6'8"), he is very tall and athletic (plays PF/C for his high school hoops team) and performed well as a sophmore when he traveled to several combines with his former teammates Darren Evans and Jerimy Finch.

He doesn't get many balls thrown his way as Warren Central is a running team. And when I mean running, they run, run and then run some more. The pass is rarely used.

Since the Weis pattern of TE's is 2/1/2/1/2 and so on do you think with next year being a 1 TE year that a scholarship will go out to anybody but Jake Golic?

Yep, I've said it for two years it will most likely Jake Golic or bust.

This kid, like Golic, is said to be an athlete that could also blossom into a defensive end.

What's the skinny on Golic?

Profile Updated with Scout 300 Ranking , Scout Position Ranking, and Scout Star Rating.

Hazelett is the only uncommitted Tight End that ND is looking at who currently appears in either the Rivals 100 or the Scout 300, and it is actually a bit of a surprise that he is even in the Scout 300. This should give some indication that at least as of now, TE recruiting for 2009 is not a high priority. This probably means that despite still not being offered, they expect Jake Golic to be Irish, and also that they expect Yeatman to return in 2009, if not 2008 as well.

ND is looking at another Tight End from Minnesota, Ra'shede Hageman, who we do not yet have a profile on, but he too is not on any of the top board lists.

Profile Updated with latest Scout and Rivals rankings.

Big drop for Big Ed on Scout, out of the Scout 300 and dropped from #8 TE to #26 TE. He remains unranked by Rivals who has done no position rankings or ratings beyond the guys they have ranked as 4 star recruits.

Hazelett has dropped Indiana due to the fact that they have informed him they no longer have room for him. He holds offers from Arkansas, Boston College, Louisville and Kentucky, and is also hearing from Ohio State and Oklahoma. He will take official visits to the four schools who have offered, and will use the last one to go to Oklahoma or Ohio State.

If I remember correctly. Western Kentucky has a coach on staff that was the former head coach at Warren Central (about 4 years ago?)

Ed Hazelett, the super-sized (6-foot-8, 265-pounds) tight end out of Indianapolis (Ind.) Warren Central told InsideTheVille.com publisher Mike Hughes he’s a soft verbal to Western Kentucky and looking to play on a bigger stage. Louisville and Michigan have now joined the race with Western Kentucky to earn Hazelett’s signature in early February.

Not surprised in the least bit.
