Campbell has been a Michigan verbal commit since June, and is now saying that he has had an ND offer since September. No one seems to agree with him on this, so it was most likely a conditional verbal offer of some kind.

Mike Frank keeps insinuating that CB is continuing to talk to this kid and there is "some" mutual interest. Anyone hear anything? Would be a good get for us, especially considering it would take from scUM.

Don't get my hopes up. This kid would solidify the NT spot for 4 years or until the NFL calls.

I think I'd rather get him than any other DT in this class. Just because he is one of the very few high school kids that has the size to be a true 3-4 DT

Don't get too caught up in the NFL definition of true 3-4 size. If you take a look at guys that have played in the 3-4 at places like UVA, Penn St. and USC when they ran it, most of them are far from the size of the Patriots' line. 290 pounders are big enough to hold up on a college line if they can move.

That said, yes. This kid would be a great get.

I heard this on his PowerHour shows. I couldn't honestly remember which ones but I believe there were 2 shows perhaps 4-22 and 4-29? where he mentioned that CB was talking to Campbell and he believed that there was mutual interest but he wasn't sure how much. (you like that sentence structure? I got more where that came from!)

Just because we aren't on some list on a recruiting board doesn't mean he doesn't have interest. Coaches are aloud to call players and talk to them. I would hope that the Irish are one of them calling.

I obviously hadn't heard anything. But I would sorta doubt we cooled on him. Hes a prime time DL prospect from the Detroit area. We still need more DL even with the great haul from last year. He decommits from one of our main rivals and already has an offer from ND.

DT William Campbell, Detroit Cass Tech: LSU and Miami are getting official visits, but USC seemingly has this one right. The Trojans aren't pushing hard for Campbell despite his talent because they seem to be hearing what I am hearing: Campbell will end up at Michigan in the end.

let's see if lalota even ends up at michigan (sucks), he could very well end up with joe pa poopie pants before signing day if he bolts michigan (sucks)

hopefully michigan (sucks) keeps it up with their losing ways and that happens, and hopefully somebody from the ND staff is keeping in touch with a certain OL that is from the land of lincoln and is friends with Zach Martin and ND can poach him away from michigan (sucks), and maybe sign his brother in 2010

Let's not forget that ND went 3-9 last year and ended up with the number 1 class. Michigan is losing, but alot of recruits might see that as an opportunity to play early. Believe me I hope they all decommit, I just don't see it happening.

ND last year keeping all its recruits (that's right, I said all, I know who you're thinking, but he was never all irish, despite that one pic) is probably the exception, not the rule. Look at Michigan, lost 4 so far. Look at Clemson, lost 3-4(?) so far. Rutgers I believe has lost a few.

I think ND's class last year stayed together for reasons that aren't common to most teams, and because of the work of the coaches.

Defensive lineman William Campbell (Detroit/Cass Tech) is one of the top uncommitted prospects in the Midwest. He won't be much longer.

Campbell made his final official visit this past weekend as he visited the Miami Hurricanes. As with his other four trips, Campbell checked things out and headed home without making a commitment.

Campbell, a one-time Michigan commitment, made official visits to Miami, Michigan, LSU, Florida and Alabama. He says all five schools are still under consideration and he does not have a leader.

Campbell plans to announce his college choice on Jan. 3.
