Picture above was from Andrew Sweat's practice and presser. Wilkins has ties to Notre Dame as he is the cousin of Travis Thomas.

Coach Ed Dalton (High School HC) says ken is the most physically gifted player he has coached...including Andrew Sweat (tOSU) and Mike Yancich (PSU). Coach Fickell Coordinator at tOSU) took film back to Columbus and he expects tOSU to offer soon.

More on Kenny................

Washington (Pa.) Trinity coach Ed Dalton has groomed his share of standout players, including current Nittany Lions linebacker Mike Yancich and Ohio State linebacker Andrew Sweat.

So when Dalton says junior defensive end Ken Wilkins is the most physically talented player he has had, it should not be taken lightly.

"He is an unbelievable physical talent," Dalton said. "And he is only going to get better. I have had some great players here, but nothing like Ken physically. I am not saying he is going to be better than Yancich and Sweat, but he is the most physically talented player I've had."

The Nittany Lions have a commitment from one top 10 Pennsylvania class of 2010 prospect, linebacker Mike Hull from Canonsburg (Pa.) Canon McMillan. Another could commit this Saturday when quarterback Paul "P.J." Jones visits Penn State. And Wilkins is a third junior in-state star who Joe Paterno would love to land.

The 6-foot-4 and 235-pound Wilkins started at times during his sophomore season at Trinity. He became a full-time starter his junior season playing both as a down defensive end and a stand-up outside linebacker.

Wilkins made 33 solo tackles and had 51 assists during his junior season. He registered eight sacks and recovered two fumbles - both of which he returned for touchdowns.

Wilkins runs the 40-yard dash in 4.61 seconds and can dunk a basketball just about anyway someone could want.

Wilkins has Big Ten scholarship offers including Penn State. He also has offers from Big East and ACC schools, and Dalton feels Wilkins will have over 20 offers by the time the spring rolls around.

Wilkins' cousin, Travis Thomas, was a strong safety for Notre Dame and was on the Cleveland Browns practice squad.

Tom Bradley is recruiting Wilkins for the Nittany Lions.

Defender Ken Wilkins likes the Nittany Lions
Ken Wilkins, an ESPNU 150 Watch List defensive end / outside linebacker told affiliate Web site NittanyNetwork.com, "Penn State is number one, followed by Ohio State, then Pitt. And I like Illinois, too."

Pittsburgh, Illinois, Minnesota, Cincinnati and Maryland have already offered Wilkins, who registered 33 solo tackles, 51 assists and eight sacks as a junior on his way to first team all-state recognition.

Kenny Wilkins, DE/OLB, Junior, Washington, Pa./Trinity

Wilkins was one of the most striking big men at the Pittsburgh combine. This 6-3, 220-pound defender ran a solid 4.7 40. He had a very good day and was physically one of the most impressive-looking athletes at the UPMC Sports Performance Complex. Wilkins already has picked up offers from Maryland, Minnesota, Illinois, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Boston College and North Carolina State. He will be making the rounds this spring on several other campuses for spring games. The sleeper school may be Ohio State, where his former high school teammates Andrew Sweat and Andrew Miller play. Wilkins is a very good defensive player who definitely passes the "eyeball" test.

Defensive end/linebacker Kenny Wilkins (Washington, Pa./Trinity) has over two dozen scholarship offers, including several recent ones.

"Connecticut was my 27th offer," Wilkins said. "It came last Friday. They said they liked my film and wanted to offer me."

However, his other two new offers have been particularly big. In fact by virtue of their offers, Michigan and West Virginia are now among Wilkins' top five choices.

"Recently Michigan and West Virginia offered," Wilkins said. "Right now my top five are Virginia, Michigan, Pitt, West Virginia and Maryland, in no particular order."

When asked about the Wolverines' offer, Wilkins said, "I didn't know it was coming until they stopped at the school. The coach said it only took a couple plays watching my film and he knew he wanted me."

The 6-foot-4, 235-pounder made 33 solo tackles with 51 assists during his junior season and sees himself selecting a college sooner rather than later.

"Hopefully I'll be ready to make my decision in mid-June or early July," Wilkins said.

While Wilkins hasn't committed to Michigan, it may not be long until he does.

"I liked it a lot," Wilkins said when asked about his trip to Michigan over the weekend. "The coaches brought out their families to show they have a family atmosphere there. I liked the enthusiasm of coach Rodriguez. You could see he is ready to turn the program around."

The 6-foot-4, 235-pounder has 27 scholarship offers including Michigan, Pitt, West Virginia, Virginia and Maryland.

"I'm going to decide (on a college) in the next week or so," Wilkins said. "Michigan and Pitt are my top two. They are dead even. I just have to see which school I like best."

I have been seeing that Kenny will be number 13 for scUM other places as well.

Kenny will make his decision tommorrow (June 9th) at noon, at his high school. will decide from Pitt, scUM and West Viriginia. Anywhere but scUM would be a huge shocker.

scUM is a magnate for 3 stars this year. Quite a few fans keep saying "doesn't he know he's not in the big east anymore, he can recruit higher ranked players"
