I think things are starting to sink in for their fans - well, some of them. Some guys over there have said "It's been fine 'til now, but losing out on Baldwin and Filer would hurt bad - we need impact gets there." Well, we all know where Filer is headed, so I know at least one guy will feel the burn of this one (wasn't Steve a "silent" Skunkbear?). Now Will Hill is all but gone the way of the Gator, so the # of cherries on top of a Wolverine Sunday are dwindling.

The thing of it is, they offered more kids than ND, so they have more prospects to keep hope alive over when they miss on a Clelland, a Hunter, a Johnson, etc. But the pool of headline grabbers like Hill and Filer is starting to shrink, so we'll hopefully see a little more realism in the coming months.

I don't like the roots that Urbie is planting in NJ. Other than that I could care less.

Love that thought!!! Couldn't happen to a better team.

I'm not to sure about the realism part. They talk about how they kick our butts every year , but isn't Charlie 2 out of 3 over them?

Na, Charlie has been on the job for 2 seasons. .500 vs. the Skunkbears.

They'll always hate ND, but there won't be enough prospects to fuel their blind optimism and dreams of a #1 caliber class.

till someone can knock urbie off the top of the heap, he'll continue to get good players, regardless where they are from. national chumps, good scenery, bbq's, etc, any of us could recruit there, even zooker did, he just can't coach.

I hear ya. I'm still not sold on Rutgers sustainability. NJ always has talent, not in the numbers as the other areas, so another used carsalesmen with the weather and babes definitely has me worried. Trattou and Hill, back to back yrs. grrrrrr.

Rutgers is on the way up. I think they'll start taking 1 or 2 guys a year that we look at or offer, but I still think we'll get who we want.

This year we looked at Hafis Williams, Rashad White, Eric LeGrand, and Art Forst. Two of four are Rutgers commits. And we got Hafis. And unless NDisNCin2010 (DDer) is 100 percent correct on his post yesterday that it's us and BC, then Rutgers still has a chance on Forst as well.

I know we've always done well in NJ and Weis' ties help some as well, but I think we're expanding into the South, and it's not going to matter as much. We'll still go after the top guys in NJ, but our expansion in the South will show up as we get better and start playing those neutral home games.

--------That same guy last week said RU and UF were Forsts final 2 and ND and BC were out and when I said it was BS he PMed me flipping out questioning his "source". So this week Forst apprently changed his mind and did a complete 180 and now both RU and UF are off in favor of ND and BC? Hmmm he has officials set up for UF, ND, and RU. No BC, but yet Rutgers. The guy is just looking for attention and probably hearing this from 8th hand account or something. Forst always has and always will have RU #1.

I totally agree with you knight, RU will be stiff competition for my man Forst...

Good luck to Will Hill, great safety tandem with him and Major Wright... Hope we see them in the future... I can't wait to get in the BCS and kick the Gators from Gainesville to Cuba if you catch my drift...

I've read that he's a "I want to play in a warm climate" recruit. Well he sure picked a warm climate if he verbals to the Gutters. He will be so blasted hot during the summer he will feel like his brain is scrambled. Have fun in the swamp!

hold on now, Knight.
i said Rutgers was OUT for Hill over a month and a half ago over on DD, and you ripped my head off said i was i didnt know what i was talking about. You said "Hill is at Rutgers every weekend...he loves it there...he is going to announce late, etc" and i KNEW then that he told people he wanted to "get away" from Jersey altogether but he did like the RU guys and coaches-(obviously his cousin Lane goes there)
on Forst...you are correct i DID say it was down to RU, ND and UF over on DD (about a month ago as well). I did say he would be visiting all three, and only all three, and announcing at his high schoool week before Christmas.
since that time, i got new info that it now down to just ND and BC and got it confirmed from 2 separate people VERY slose to the kid and the program. dont call me a liar for reporting NEW information-this is recruiting and were dealing w/ 17 yr olds here who change their mind like i change my oil. i was shocked that BC was in the mix, but lot of schools are just ramping up their recruiting and pitches so not really a surprise.
in fact, Forst head coach has prolly coached his last game at Squan High, this is not public knowledge, but he may be done.

Article on Will from SI

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/writers/kevin_armstrong/08/21/will.hill/index.html

Innocent by age, not necessarily association, Simpkins, an Elizabeth (N.J.) High cheerleader, was one of three murder victims shot dead in the second floor of an apartment building on Sanford Avenue in the Vailsburg section of Newark. In an attempt to cover up the crime, the three assailants set the scene on fire. "It was a no brainer for me to keep on playing," Hill says. "The team is like a second family and the game was an outlet for my feelings. I could take it out hitting people."

---Elizabeth is where Hafis plays and which is why I will not be stopping by to watch one of his games lol

(stating the obvoius i know)...but confirming that Will Hill will be committing to Florida on his visit this weekend when he is down there with his Mom.

irishunclebill
09-12-2007, 12:07 PM
To tell you the truth I have not paid any attention to Hill. I did not even realize that he was so high on Florida, but based on what Farrell wrote in July it would certainly seem that would be the case if Mom is coming along for this visit.

I'm a little surprised that Hill does not want to play it out a little longer, but I'd rather see him with Urbie than the Poodle for obvious reasons. Also, Hill is going to be just another Safety at Florida who have already picked up 5 of the Top 10 Safetys in the 2007 & 2008 recruiting classes. His talent will be wasted there, but I have a feeling that no one is really sure of how to best take advantage of Hill's great athletic skills at this point. That's another reason I would rather see him with Urbie. The Poodle would eventually figure out a way to utilize Hill's talent to their maximum benefit for the team, the jury is still out on whether Urbie can do the same.

I could see Will being used as a Percy Harvin jack of all trades type down there. But who knows, maybe he will treat him like the 2nd coming of Reggie Nelson. Not my problem to think about in depth.

Per Sports Illustrated, Hill will be verballing to UF on Thursday.

St. Peter's Prep (Jersey City) all-around star Will Hill took his official visit to Gainesville, Fla., last Saturday and watched from the stands as the Gators thrashed Tennessee 59-20.

On Thursday, he is expected to announce his intent to suit up for the Gators next season, much to the chagrin of the USC Trojans, who he was previously scheduled to visit this weekend.

Full article here http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/writers/kevin_armstrong/09/17/will.hillcommit/index.html. Seems him and Jeremy Brown hit it off great.
