How long will Willingham last at UW?

Svoboda
03-14-2008, 04:31 PM
He has one, maybe two more seasons if he doesn't perform up to expectations set forth by the AD this offseason. He was able to dodge the axe in exchange for firing several of his assistants, something he refused to do here at Notre Dame.

Having lived in the Seattle area, Washington is a proud school so they won't take continued losing. He needs to win 7-8 games this year to be safe IMO, which he should be able to do. He has an excellent quarterback and some nice young talent to work with.

He showed the same refusal to make in game adjustments all last season. Especially in the Hawaii game. How he blew that lead, I'll never know.

I'm saying he's gone after another non bowl eligible season(this year being that season). The next coach will have a good quarterback to work with, as well as this TE they just signed, Middleton.

I thought the AD left Svoboda, over this whole mess after the season they had.

not as brutal as last years, but still pretty difficult. Pretty evened out as far as home/road games and difficulty. To be honest, this game agaisnt Ty worries me somewhat. Not a gimmie for ND by any means in my opinion. I still don't see 7 wins for Washington this year. Depending on how Ty's team loses their games this year, he could be gone, if they are competitive, he gets one more year.

They could easily go 5-7 with that schedule.

I'm sure there is someone acting in that capacity, at least on an interim basis. I'm sure Willingham knows damn well what is expected of him and Washington won't give him another chance. They lost quite a bit of revenue in lost donations from alums because they retained him.

The AD was a Ty supporter. He's gone, so you know Ty has to be feeling the heat to produce this season. Unfortunately for him, it will probably be another mediocre season.

Based on that schedule, Ol' Ty Willie may be in some trouble...

I don't see any let up anywhere in there.

I don't mean to sound sarcastic and I did vote, but to be honest I could totally care less what happens to him...I'm just glad he's not at ND!

He'll get at least two more years. I predict he'll finally have a winning record in '08.

He needs to improve a lot if he wants to keep his job. I am not sure if they have the talent to compete in the Pac 10.

Just as long as we beat the crap out of them. Then I don't really care about UW.

i only care because I actually want him to fail. I am a bitter asshole because this guy didn't do squat for ND the 3 short years he was here and contributed to a self imposing "probation" on ND because of his lazy a$$ recruiting, if you can even call what he did recruiting.

that is my only interest in how he does.

Shhhhhhhhhhhh! (reverse psychology). Remember, I'm a biiiiggggggggggggg Holtz fan & you remember how he always predicted the game vs. his upcoming opponents.

I said Christmas, but pretty sure it will be this year sometime....

He is already age-eligible for the PGA Senior Tour; not sure why he hasn't left yet

1. A thread with the subject of "Thank You's" tenure? :wtf: I learned the TY thing last week with Spinner. I am the oldest 29 year old for sure.

2. Ty will be gone at season's end and UW will have a losing record.

3. Ty will have already found his next job by his firing.

4. UW will get 1 or 2 O-lineman from the 09 recruiting class.

Why does anyone care? Even though I believe he will have another losing season up there and the UW alumni will can him after the season ends, the National media will mever admit that his ND tenure was correctly abbriviated for the good of all concerned.

Bump Ty and the school he claim. ND where I ride I'm doin' nothin' but game...

I said 2 years because I think he'll get that just for firing some assistants. Plus he should be able to slightly improve over last year's record. That might buy a year. If they beat ND he'll get a lifetime contract.

At the moment, I'd say there's a decent chance they beat ND. I'd have to call that game a toss up at this point. They were better than ND last year and bring back some players.

I think Ty wins 7 games this year and saves his job, thus delving UW deeper into mediocrity.

At this point that game worries me to death. Hopefully, the first 6 games will help me rest a little easier.

How can a guy that is lazy as he is coaching college football (preparation, adjustments and recruiting) have the dedication to make himself a 2 handicap??
