<html><img src=http://www.goldhelmet.com/images/recruit/blanton_124.gif hspace=5 vspace=5 align=left></html>Gold Helmet is proud to share that Butler High School standout defensive back Robert Blanton (http://www.goldhelmet.com/recruit.php?recruitid=32) will give his verbal commitment to play for the University of Notre Dame.
Blanton is currently in South Bend on campus for an unofficial visit and we've been told it's but a formality that he will give his commitment in the next couple days (or even hours).
The Matthews, North Carolina native will become the 15th recruit in the 2008 Fighting Irish recruiting class, and the first cornerback in the class. Blanton, who has competed very well on the camp circuit, is considered a four star prospect by both the Rivals and Scout recruiting services.
Blanton was also seriously considering Michigan and Virginia Tech, but chose the Irish after developing a great relationship with incoming Defensive Coordinator Corwin Brown.

Right on! Thanx for the early news, Svo!! Dang, I did misread that, that's what happens when you are babysitting a five year old while skipping through posts. Well, at least we'll get him fairly soon.

Not sure if I really broke much. Blanton's recruitment has been over for quite awhile now, it was just finding the right time for him to announce it.

Getting Blanton is big, but ND still has to snag Filer, Slaughter and Baldwin from Michigan.
It ain't over until February.

How much room left....8 (maybe 9) schollies with ZF gone?? That gives us about one a month until NSD. Or we could use about 5 during season and save a few for the primma donnas.

We did that last year -- it didn't work out so well. If they're good prospects, you get them when you can get them.

I think this signing day we are due for some last minute Elite Players saying CB is for real and signing on. Thats what I was trying to refer to last year we wanted 22 and got 19 barely, thats all I am trying to say.
