I think he is going to go to OSU? Because I think ND might pull the upset in this one.

iub any word on a possible commit today?

It's all a rumor to this point started by an EdgyTim poster who usually has good info. There has been no confirmation anywhere. The rumor mill has anyone from McCarthy to Will Compton, why Compton IDK, because as far as I know he was not even at camp, and does not have an offer yet. If there actually was one, logically speaking you would have to expect it was McCarthy making up his mind before the bus filled up. Story was that the recruit was going to commit to CW today.

-------I could only see it being McCarthy and a slimmm chance of Floyd. Unless we offered one of the verrry good prospects that have offers from everywhere but us (Square and the other guy who is favoring Florida.)

You mean Keith Wells.
Dan McCarthy does make the most sense, given his timetable. Ethan Johnson if he were blown away - small chance of Floyd ending it this early in the summer. Who knows though. I guess with the recent success and the rumors that have panned out (rivals GA site rumor that Hunter was Irish, Blanton's stepdad dispensing rumors), I'm prone to thinking something is in the water.
Thats probably a mistake though. It would be a pretty hefty surprise. McCarthy had a recent rivals article that stated some level of confusion with his college choice, Johnson had no intention of ending things this summer, and Floyd had other places to go and people to meet. Who knows.

If there is actually a commit coming and if the facts in the rumor are correct, then you can forget about Wells, Floyd, Johnson, or Square.
The rumor was that it was someone who gave CW his verbal committment & left. Wells did not even show up for camp. Floyd, Johnson, & Square are still there. McCarthy has come and gone but the rumor does not excactly fit him either because he was at camp on Sunday & Monday. Which leaves me .

Goebel has apparently officially dropped ND out of contention. I thought this would happen when he committed to OSU, but that no longer seems to be a sure thing either as Goebel has added two new schools to his Top 4. West Virginia & Illinois, yes Zook is at it again, are now in Goebels's Top 4 along with pOSU & Michigan. This is actually not bad news for ND as we all knew he was not headed this way, but it is bad news for the Bucknuts who have targeted Goebel as their top DL recruit and who thought it was a forgone conclusion that he would commit to them after his Michigan visit last weekend. Goebel may still end up in Columbus, but now that Zook has entered the picture anything can happen.
I wonder if there is a little bit of a Pocic effect here as well, as Goebel & Pocic are friends.

No surprise here really as our defensive line commitments are pretty much going to scare off any other prospects at DE/DT. You're really going to have to believe in yourself to be commit #5 in this class along the line.

I remember hearing Pocic say he'd get right on Goebel about Illinois because they are really good friends. It'd be really funny to see him go to Illinois after OSU has been calling him lock and plus I just like to see them suffer.

It would be bad news for ND only if he went to USC and scUM. Other than that, I could care less where he lands.

Apparently Pocic's efforts to Zookerize Goebel have failed. He now says that OSU & scUM are his Top 2, and he lists Illinois & WVU as "schools he is considering." Yeah, right. It's back to the Bucknuts & the scUM for Goebel, and OSU who really wants Goebel has a lot to be worried about. Goebel's last visit was to scUM where it was expected by the Bucknut crowd that if Goebel was not blown away at Ann Arbor, then he would shortly be an OSU commit. That did not happen and now Goebel is making another trip to Ann Arbor next weekend, and he said that will be his last trip before making a decision. He is planning on announcing in early August and it appears that Michigan is very much a player in this one.

Right on the money. I've been keeping tabs on this one a slightly different way, but no matter how you get there, our final stories are exactly the same; OSU wants him real bad, but the Wolverines aren't out of this thing yet.

The ND fan in me does not want to see this kid in urine and blue. I love our haul, but he's a good one as well.
The Ohioan in me gets a little tingle of glee down my spine at the thought of the buckstumps missing out on their best shot at a very good true DT in this class.
I'm so torn.

Of the 2 longshots (really no shots), option #3 with Zook sucks for most ND fans, so that leaves WVU to make a late charge. Uh, no. I'm afraid, no matter where this end up, we will not be pleased.
