Fauria is actively recruiting Forst.

B&G has a headline blurb that Forst is down to just ND & Rutgers. Goodbye Urbie!

NJ Tackle likely to choose between ND & Rutgers (http://www.blueandgold.com/recruiting/)

I don't know about forst...you guys seem to think he's great...I saw him going against that kid from dunbar on generation next (i think his name is reggie ellis) and he got smoked baaaaaaaad...looked slower than a seven year itch...foot work was c- and I was not impressed at all...any of you that know me know how down I have been on our oline the last 2 years....we need dominating linemen that blow dl's off the line and blow holes you could drive a freight shaker through

NDgrandson

I think most see Forst as POTENTIAL. the "P" word. He is not there yet, but could be really good. If CW takes an OL, I bet they will be top notch.

Forst is no Patchan, that's for sure, but then who is. I agree with NDGrandson that CW is looking at Forst as a project. The staff must see something in his footwork and quickness that compliments his almost perfect OT size to make them think he is worth a schollie, and probably a slot if he commits soon. He definitely needs work on techique but who better to be your tutor on that than a CW coached staff. Plus he had a pretty impressive Offer List, but that may have been also a case of "Follow the Charlie" that we have seen an awful lot of this year.

In any case, I'm just glad to see Forst is done with Urbie, I wonder if he too tried to commit and was turned down by His Majesty. Either way, he is better off away from Gainesviille, I don't see him as the bar-b-q type. I also think he is still just as likely to end up at Rutgers as ND, especially if he waits too long to decide.

I'm hoping this kid comes to South Bend and closes out our OL recruiting for the year. I feel like we need a 4th to go with Cave, Golic, and Clelland, and he'd be a perfect fit.

dont get me wrong here i dont think Forst is better than Trev, Patchan or even Page AT ALL. Im not pulling, rooting for him over any of those 3, believe me.
my interests are for ND to get the best guys period, i could care less where they come from or if i have connections with a player, etc.
I have seen Forst play, and like you guys say, he is defintely a project, little soft right now, pretty much dominates inferior, smaller guys.
but since this spring with all the camps, unofficials, recruiting visits he has been everyone at Squan saying like a "light went on" for him (realizes needs to take advantage of his "god-givens:"height, weight etc...with WORK) and he is truly working out like a madman, training, doing stuff he never had to do, or has really never been asked to do to get him ready. like all these top level recruits more like he is getting ready for college rather than his senior year.

when DD finally gets back up and running (BTW-what is going on over there?...hate to bring our DD fight over here GHers...) we will revisit and check the FACTS and posting times over there.

Yeah Blue and gold says we maybe not out but our chances our becoming more and more like a Forston situation... The bus is full... TRob probably already told the staff and there wasn't any leaks because of the arena it was done in... So forget about Forst... Is he really as mean, nasty, and better than Robinson... Film says no...

Move him to the committed to others section soon...

I agree, if we take two OL this year, one will be TR, the other will be Patchan. Forst is a project from the get-go. 6'8, nice footwork, but he hasnt faced the pass-rushers he'll face in D-1 even though his team was 1 of the best in the state last year.

IrishKnight1023
07-27-2007, 01:06 PM
Yeah his competition is not impressive to say the least and he still doesn't dominate. He just tries to run people over instread of using any type of technique. He definently is a project and it's only a matter of time before he announces for RU. When he visits RU it'll be in the midst of their 6 (I'm pretty sure it's 6) straight home game schedule in the beginning of the season against terrible competition so they'll dominate and impress him. I just can't see them losing him now at all.

yep, saw that...
well, Dan Silver of B+G's last 2 articles on Forst were:
June 26th: "Art Forst Nearing Decision?"
May 27th: "Irish Now "Forst" to be Reckoned With?"
maybe his source is as fickle as mine...or maybe our sources are right and the kid keeps changing his mind.
still, i will stick to my word per above, and if its not ND or BC in the kids final two, im gone...
funny thing is i dont even really want the kid at ND...think we have bigger targets on the hook....stay tuned, lets see how it ends up.

NDgrandson
07-27-2007, 08:02 PM
Even if we are unlikely to end up with a recruit who holds an offer, we should not say, "I don't even want the kid at ND." Let's leave that up to CW and staff. Especially as we become a perrenial recruiting powerhouse again, there will be times when some recruits might seem to be not as good as another in our opinion. Naturally we want the best player. But keep comments which are negative to yourself.

If we only have one more spot for an o-lineman I think I would want Robinson to have it...he was offered on day one..so you know Charlie thinks hes the best o-lineman on the board..

Apologies for not having this moved over already. I haven't gotten a hold of my "How to moderate" tutorial kit that its pretty clear that I need. Still trying to get the hang of this, but you're very much right about that one scoop.

Yea he is raw. But for the most part all highschool OT (Not named Andre Smith, Sam Young and a few others) dont have the technique or physical strength to come in and compete anyway. But he is a great get for Rutgers.

Good God Sam Young, just reminds me he's only going to be a So. and people already have him being around the 10th best T in the country. Top 5 draft pick when he leaves South bend IMO and it's been way too long since we've had that.

I'm melting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i private messaged 2 guys at DD on Forst inside stuff thru this process, in my mind, my source had it all nailed down cold except for the late news on "its now BC or ND", if only DD didnt shut down a day earlier, i wouldnt have even been able to post the "ND or BC" news!
He's dead meat when i see him tomorrow at work, cost me all board credibility.
has anyone read if BC was truly in it at the end for Forst? i'm curious on that b/c source said Art really liked their new Head Coach who did get a late jump on recruiting overall.
anyway, good luck to Art, in the end i think its good he stays in Jersey and goes to RU, he has things to work on.

I don't think there is a story yet because it's Sunday, but the RU admin over on Rivals confirmed it. I know you want to hear if BC was at least #2, but there wasn't any other team even close for him besides RU and that's being honest. It was that way from the beginning and it's the way it ended.

-----Forst was only RU all along and like I said nobody else was really in it...

"Honestly, I didn't see myself at any school other than Rutgers," said Forst, who notified Scarlet Knights football coach Greg Schiano late Saturday evening of his decision to join the Scarlet Knights' 2008 recruiting class.

----And is a very good guy as well..

"Basically I didn't want to waste the University of Florida's and Notre Dame's time anymore," said Forst, a four-star (out of five) prospect according to scout.com and rivals.com and a consensus top-five New Jersey recruit. "I thought the world of Notre Dame's coaches, especially (offensive line) Coach Latina. I just didn't see myself at Notre Dame."
