In short, ratings are horribly low this year and might set an all time low (not a surprise). And...

The parties are in the second year of a five-year deal, with negotiations for a renewal expected to happen sometime next year.

If I were Kevin White (or whoever makes these decisions) I'd try to wait on that renewal. You gotta believe the quality of football will greatly improve over the next couple years.

NBC says...

We’re as thrilled to be part of Notre Dame football as much this year as in any other year.

...so that's encouraging.

the one thing i would like to see changed is the number of commercials cut down. ND games are ridiculously long and the game is way too drawn out. There are twice as many commericial breaks on NBC than there are on any other network/game.

I agree Marv. When you are at the game, it takes the crowd out when you have a 5 minute tv time out.

the problems is NBC will not give up the revenue that the commercials take in. I wonder if ND could say we want a limit on the number of commercials during our games?

I wonder if ND could say we want a limit on the number of commercials during our games?then they'd say "well, we'll only do that if we pay you less." then kevin white goes "noooooo. monnneeeeeyyyy." and we're stuck with the hall's fruit breeze scream of the game sponsored by vonage for the next 17.5 years.

If I could do anything in this world, ( cure cancer included ) it would be to put teddy in a room with Mr. White - Oh how that would be youtube material for the ages.
