from ESPN...Zook recruits guy and has coach on payroll...matter of time before he gets Zooked himself IMHO:

Big pickup for Illinois with ESPN 150 CB Nixon
Patrick Nixon has committed to the Fighting Illini over other programs such as the defending champion Florida Gators, the Daily Herald reports. He attempted to graduate from high school one year early and become part of Illinois' Class of 2007, but had too many remaining courses to finish last spring.
Current Illinois co-defensive coordinator Dan Disch was the head coach at Nixon's high school, Ed E. White (Jacksonville, Fla.) for 16 years before joining Ron Zook's staff.

Does sound like some funny buisness going on with this one. More to the fact the kid wanted to be part of last years class when his head coach just happens to be offered a job by Zook.

Sounds an awful lot like that coach from Johnny be Good and his rather shady deal with Piermont University.

Speaking of that oscar winning movie, anyone remember the opening speech by the coach? He says a Hail Mary and then says, "the lord wants you to put your foot on their nuts and believe in it". I laughed pretty hard at that.

It is shady. But it's legal and it happens rather frequently. He uses it as a tool for possibly getting that recruit by bringing some familiarity to his current situation. Clever, shady, and not illegal. If he receives any violations, it won't be for this.

Yeah and we all know how well that situation turned out for Ark.exactly. you've gotta want to be there for the school. coaches can change, circumstances can change, but the name on the uniform doesn't.
