Teammate of former recruit (who spurned us for Michigan) Michael Williams. He also has another big time prospect playing with him in OL Vaughn Dotsy. Kid has offers from about every big time school in the country as well after racking up 3,000+ yards and 40+ touchdowns as a junior.

I thought I read somewhere that he has connections to Texas and Florida. I think he used to live in both states but I might be wrong.

Svo, he actually never played w/ Mike, Darrell was at Moorpark last year and transferred to St Bonnie this summer. Apparently he tried Oaks Christian but was turned down. Darrell has a Florida background and I've heard the same thing about Texas but am not sure. He's an amazing talent, I can't wait to see him as I live in Ventura next St B. Opposing coaches stated last year that to stop him would take a bazooka, I'm not kidding....that's how they were quoted. Right now the best guess is FSU, my dentist is a UCLA grad and he stated that he's higher on SC than UCLA, who knows? I just don't see him going to SC....IMO it's FSU or Colorado...the kid's looking for 3 years and out.

LOI to Colorado. Given that USC, Texas, and Florida were all in his favorites at one point, this is a Great (Scott) pick up for the Buffaloes.

He earned alot of respect from me with his response to the USC RB situation.

"They have nine running backs," he said. "They're probably promising all of them the same opportunity."

Not surprised by this. I guess what surprised me the most was that he actually chose Colorado to begin with.

It will be interesting if he goes to the stable of backs at USC (ie Mitch Mustain). I saw he wanted to go to the Pac 10. Maybe Cal after Best leaves? Who knows.

He's been outplayed by a 5'7" 2 star back in his own recruiting class at Colorado and opened this year third on the depth chart behind two other lightly recruited players. I think the shine is very much off him as a prospect and USC with it's murderer's row of backs might not be his best option currently (assuming they'd want him).

He's still talented and has some potential but so far is just another example of how unpredictable the transition from HS to college can be.

Hasn't he been battling injury? If so, some teams might be willing to take a chance on him. IE UCLA I guess.

before throwing him under the bus...ya might want to read the article...where it says hes been injured since he got there:

"Injuries have slowed Scott during his season-and-a-half at CU. He had arthroscopic knee surgery on Oct. 22. CU said last week it hoped Scott would be able to play Nov. 14 at Iowa State."

Which is why I said he still has some potential. But most of his injuries as a freshman were of his own doing from coming into camp overweight. And he came into this season healthy and still opened the year 3rd on the depth chart. The injury excuse only goes so far in explaining his struggles.

He did come in 30 lbs over weight for camp.

National Signing Day has come and gone, but Cincinnati head football coach Butch Jones is still looking to fill some holes to his 2010 roster.

One of his most glaring needs is at running back, where the Bearcats did not sign a prospect in 2009 or 2010. Jones may turn to former Colorado recruit Darrell Scott.

Coming out of St. Bonaventure High School (Ventura, California) in 2008, Scott was the consensus No. 1 running back in the nation and a Parade All-American. The five star recruit with reported 4.32 forty speed rushed for 7,507 career yards and 98 touchdowns in three varsity seasons.

He held approximately seventy scholarship offers at the time, including ones from Florida, Florida State, Michigan, Texas and USC. However, he ultimately decided to play or Dan Hawkins at Colorado.

As a true freshman in Boulder, the 6-1, 215 pounder was second on the team with 343 yards on 87 attempts for a 3.9 yard per carry average, despite persistent ankle and groin injuries. Those stats were seventh most by a freshman running back in Colorado history.

Since then, there have been rumors of his return to Colorado and a move to UCLA. But Scott was on the Cincinnati campus on Thursday and Friday for an official visit.

Also officially visiting Cincinnati this week was Kenbrell Thompkins from El Camino Community College in Torrance, California. The 6-3, 190 pounder is considered the No. 1 junior college wide receiver in the country and signed with Tennessee on December 17, but changed his mind less than a month later when Lane Kiffin left Knoxville to become the head football coach at USC.

In two seasons at El Camino, Thompkins caught 126 passes for 2,052 yards and 15 touchdowns. He is also expected to visit UCLA before making his college decision.

We'll see if he ends up at Cincy or UCLA......but two days at UC would be a good sign.

Former Buffs RB Scott says he's coming to USF

It's always with a grain of salt that we report anything based on Facebook status updates, but here's a wild possibility: Darrell Scott, the nation's top running back recruit in 2008, posted on Facebook on Monday night that he's transferring to play his final two years of college football at USF.

"Just got a scholly peeps!!!! Your looking at a bull now," he wrote. "USF here I come baby."

Scott, 6-foot-1 and 225 pounds, spent two years at Colorado, where he rushed for 343 yards as a true freshman and was limited by a knee injury to 95 yards last season. He would have to sit out the 2010 season by NCAA rules and would have two years to play with the Bulls.

Scott was born in Tallahassee, and at one point in high school, was reportedly considering transferring to Tallahassee's Lincoln High School, where USF starting quarterback B.J. Daniels also attended. Scott could not be reached for comment Monday night.

USF's running back job should be wide-open in 2011, with this year's likely starter a sixth-year senior in Mo Plancher, with no experienced running backs behind him.

Skippy plucks a good one.
