At 6' 5 i have to assume he would be an end in our defense. Am i the only one who is suprised about the number of offers our to the defensive edge?

Yea, I can't figure out why Rivals lists this guy as a DT, his measurables are DE for any defensive scheme for the foreseeable future. As far as the offers go considering they are all verbals you have to question how many are really actionable, this one in particular.
I wonder if there is a correlation between unique name spellings and NFL success. The guys at Freakonomics need to look into this.

Growing up Courtnye Wynn (Norfolk, Va./Christian) was just a basketball player. It was the sport he grew up playing, it was the only sport he had access to growing up in Baltimore, and it is a sport he still loves to this day. He continued his love for hoops when he moved to Norfolk, Virginia five years ago.
But two years ago, the football coaches at Norfolk Christian School made a promise to Wynn, and it convinced the 6-foot-5, 240-pound athlete to give the gridiron a chance.
“I had no idea that I would get recruited,” Wynn said. “My coaches promised me that if I played (football) I would go to college. I listened to my coaches and their wise advice paid off.”
Despite having played football for only two years, the standout defensive end has received offers from Notre Dame, Connecticut, N.C. State, Vanderbilt, Virginia, and Virginia Tech. It is safe to assume that more offers will soon be arriving as more teams begin to see the talented athlete on film.
As his recruitment begins to pick up steam, Wynn plans to keep his options open when it comes to specific schools that he will consider. He does, however, have his mind made up on what will be important to him when it comes to deciding which of those schools will be his ultimate destination.
“The first thing I always look for is the academic quality of the school,” said the Norfolk Christian standout. “I want to know if I would get a great education or would I get a mediocre education. Second thing is to have an environment where I feel at home. The players and the coaches, it is a family environment I would fit into.”
Past success is not as important to Wynn as the foundation that is being laid for the future of the programs that are recruiting him.
“I also want to make sure they are a great program moving forward.” Wynn said. “I care more about what the program is going to look like while I am there.”
Mike London and the in-state Virginia Cavaliers have made a big early impression on the standout end.
“I always respect the schools like Virginia,” Wynn said of the Wahoos. “They were the first school to offer me. Coach (Mike) London is a great guy. He saw something in me that a lot of people didn’t see way ahead of my recruiting process. I just got back Saturday from the Orange and Blue game at Virginia. I just got back from their campus. I love going up there.”
The Fighting Irish are another program that Wynn holds in high regards.
“Notre Dame showed a lot of interest in me the last couple of weeks,” Wynn continued. “It’s a school I know if I go there it will have strong academics and I’d have a good future.”
The Irish staff has made a great impression on Wynn. “I have talked to their whole coaching staff,” Wynn said. “They are a great staff, I love those guys. I’ve actually met Coach (Charley) Molnar and I’ve got the best relationship with him, but I plan on making a deeper relationship with the rest of the staff.”
Wynn plans on making his way up to South Bend sometime this summer. “I plan on going up there a couple of times this summer,” said the two-sport standout.
Wynn will be trekking up to Maryland this weekend and plans to visit Virginia Tech, Vanderbilt, and N.C. State sometime in the future.
When it comes to making a decision, Wynn does not have a timeline and is no hurry to make his choice.
“I just want to make a wise decision,” Wynn said. “I will have to because wherever I commit to I am going to stick with them for four years.”
Whoever lands Wynn in the end is getting an ultra-talented athlete that is just beginning to tap into his potential as a football player. One need only watch him throwing down thunderous dunks during a dunk contest in Florida to see his immense athletic talents. As he learns to translate that athleticism onto the football he has the potential to emerge as one of this class's top sleepers.
