Well Florida and Miami have been filled and Pitt was filled and now vacated. I think our attention will be on Stanford and Michigan. I DO think Harbaugh will move on and I'd bet it would be to the NFL and not to Michigan. I DO think Rich Rod will be fired. So... two of our rivals will have an opening. Right now I am watching the HC which may be the first choice for both Stanford and Michigan (assuming Harbaugh is a no go) in Randy Edsall. He's a good coach, runs a good program and he beat us last year at home.
Then we have CW to Florida. Lots to discuss.
Let's see how it unfolds.

Michigan AD plans to talk with Rodriguez soonFrom AP
By larry lage on January 1, 2011 at 8:14 PM
ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon plans to talk to coach Rich Rodriguez about his future soon after both are back on campus.
Brandon says he probably won't have more to say until the back half of next week.
Rodriguez could not have helped his chances of returning for a fourth season with the Wolverines on Saturday when Mississippi State routed his team 52-14. It was Michigan's worst bowl loss ever.
He told reporters in Jacksonville, Fla., the speculation about his job has been "the elephant in the room."
Rodriguez is 15-22 overall and 1-11 against ranked teams.
If he is fired, Michigan is expected to try to hire Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh. The former Wolverines quarterback will coach the Cardinal against Virginia Tech in the Orange Bowl on Monday night.

Yeah he will definitely be one of the first options after Harbaugh. He told SDSU that Michigan is his dream job and he would jump at the opportunity in a heartbeat.

Leach needs to get back in the college game somehow. I know he is a sucky recruiter, but as a pure gameday coach, he may be one of the best. I would not mind him as my offensive coordinator if I'm Florida(if Charlie doesn't go there)

In regards to Leach I still thought Da U should have hired him. With all that speed down and around there his offense would be scary as hell, imo.

Chris Mortensen thinks Harbarugh is most likely to end up in Ann Arbor. ??? I don't see it. If he thinks that UM is where he wants to spend the rest of his career, OK. But the program is a wreck and is years from winning. He could live in NorCal or Phoenix and coach an NFL team and take over a UM team years down the road.

Just got back from the Orange Bowl, great seats right behind the Stanford bench at the 40. Harbaugh had his boys loose and ready to play. I really dislike the guy, but he has done a heck of a job and this team is just Tuff, with a capital T. Talking of copyright infringement, someone told me they were selling shirts with a Fighting Leprechaun and the logo, The Fighting Harbaugh, at the game. I didn't see on and since I did not want to buy any Stanford gear, wasn't looking.
ESPN has made a big deal about the Stanford band being banned at halftime, but neither band played (except for a set each before the game) at half, and I can't see when they would have had the time with the stage rolling in and out for the Goo Goo Dolls. Several VT players were back on the field for warm-ups long before the stage was rolled off.
This was a big win for them and him, and it will be his last...no question about it. The question is where. Andrew Luck had a great game, but he still makes some stupid decisions. Nate Whitaker had a couple of bad plays, a blocked kick (can't help that) and a wide right miss. Konrad Reuland had a pretty good game and laid a nice seal block to spring the first big run, a 60 yarder.

I echo all Domer Dog's comments. I think Harbaugh is an ass but damn he did about as good a coaching job as you can do. I still chuckle about this story...
According to this story in Sunday's San Francisco Chronicle by Ray Ratto, following the 55-21 beating Stanford handed USC on Saturday afternoon in the L.A. Coliseum the two coaches met on the field for the postgame handshake.
Ratto, using two sources, reported that Carroll twice asked Harbaugh, "What's your deal?"
Harbaugh shot back with his own "What's your deal?"
Let this Stanford team be an example to the Notre Dame players and coaches of what is possible at an insititution with high academic standards. Our players are more talented but when everyone buys in and the HC has a true plan that works, it can be that good. With our talent, a cohesive team effort could have overcome that Oregon team. However, the talent needs to be there at QB like Luck. Still, let this be an example. And now let Stanford go to crap again.
Have to throw this in somewhere. Check out the Stanford coach faceplanting on the sideline.

I think he becomes the 49ers HC and renews his friendship with Pete Carroll. He doesn't have to move, he could meet his brother in the Super Bowl and if he wants to end up in the NFL, you have to strike while the iron is hot. The opportunity to go to Michigan will be there again someday if he wants. But he is young and there is not much to work with in Ann Arbor RIGHT NOW. However, he could be announced tomorrow as the HC at scUM and immediately start poaching recruits in this last month and work his ass off to rebuild. Let's hope not. I guess the Broncos are a possiblity as well. What if he wanted to go to San Diego? He is so hot right now they'd probably fire Norv Turner without telling him.
This is Harbaugh's song now.

I read that DickRod met with Brandon and they are going meet again tomorrow. I hope this scenario unfolds...Brandon realizes that Harbaugh is a no go, so rather than fire DickRod and move on since he didn't have a big name plan B, he decides to talk it out with RR and ask him to present reason(s) why he should stay. DickRod uses his charms (while a Josh groban album plays quietly in the background) and Brandon decides to keep him for another year in order to move things along and develop a better plan for when they fall apart next year. As a result, Michigan's already tepid recruiting class is miserable as a result of the lack of certainty which creates a Willinghamesque hole for 3 years or longer in Ann Arbor.

What makes Feldman think that? FSU will have a huge recruting class and with changes in Gainesville and Miami has has the oppotunity to be the #1 school in Florida. He should smoke the ACC and be in BCS Bowls every year.

That was stated in print last night, at least that he is still open to it and the fact that they upped the ante on their last offer to him. What is his downside, the local job will be gone, but with Luck back he should still have a great season next year and will still be a hot commodity. Now, if the luck runs out (pun intended), they could both lose millions. Strange bedfelows.

I don't believe it for a second. Not with the money the pro teams are throwing around. 7-8 mil for his services? Stanford can't compete with that and he is just grandstanding to use it as a bargaining chip.

I think your right. The only reason Harbaugh would go back to Stanford imo is if they could make a run at the national championship next season because if he goes back and next season is not as big of a success as this year was, Harbaugh's bargaining power goes way down

Desmond Conner is another hack sportswriter for a hack Tribune Co. newspaper. From the same article his "sources" were wrong about Bradley meeting the UConn AD on Sunday, so I wouldn't believe it for a minute when other "sources" said Addazio was reaching out to UConn after just getting the Temple gig. Addazio is a local guy, if anything his reaching out would have been to make recommendations or to offer opinions on candidates for the UConn job if asked.
