In addition to the Irish kicking off the season, September 1st is the first day that the coaching staff can offer prospects in the Class of 2009.

Anyone have any recommendations on who gets offers first?

I'd say Bryce Brown and John Simon!

Ditto. Is Jake Golic good enough to get an offer on Day 1? If so, I would say him.

Bryce Brown definetly...if we landed that kid that would be something..Ive seen his video and wow..seems like Simon from OH will be a tough one to get b/c of OSU..I think for TE next year it will def. be Golic probablly..I want us to go after that great LB from Hawaii...

Jake is more athletic than his big bro. Being that he plays TE, that would make him the only one we take next season - That could hinder his recruiting.

Being that this season we're pushing the numbers, being EXTREMELY selective next season is probably the given nomenclature.

How many schollies should Notre Dame have next year?

I know you guys can almost take a full 25 this year, but what about next year?

Will you be in the same boat as us this year where you can only take 14 to start, and then basically you pray a few spots open up?

I think next year we'll have 15.

Yea I would say around 15. So we will really have to recruit some of the elite prospects in the country to make sure that our class is small, but still very talented.

The problem is the LB from Hawaii is morman and will at some point undertake a mission. Looks like BYU for him.

More or less, yes. It all depends on 5th years, transfers, and how many we sign this year. The number will probably be, as Fanatic and Elite said, around 15. Hopefully some spots will open up. There's already rumor that a TE we have is going to leave the team to focus on lacrosse after this year, so that would open up a spot.

I'd say that we will end up with 18....with Yeatman moving over to a lacrosse schollie and a couple of transfers. That's not too bad. {Knock on wood} I hope that class progresses like '08s has thus far.

If that Yeatman guy is still playing football, he'll remain on a football scholarship.

Rumor is that he's leaving the football team, though, but I agree with you. He currently is on a football scholarship.

Right, but once he is done with this year he will move to a lacrosse schollie. That opens one up for next year's recruiting cycle!!!

Does Braxton Cave have a little brother? I don't care if he is 5'8" and weighs a buck fifty...offer the kid on day one!!!!!!!!!!!!

If he still plays football, it will count against the football limit, no matter which team is funding his scholarship. That way the NCAA keeps football programs from hiding scholarship players in other sports.

A few names I'd like to see offered on September 1:
Bryce Brown
D.J. Banks
John Simon
Jordan Roberts/Jon Budmayr (Whoever the staff likes better should get the first QB offer)
Chris Bonds

... top QB in Maryland, but too small for the next level. Will be recruited at CB. ;)
