Probably the premiere defensive tackle in the state of Indiana, kid is an absolute ox. Has been stuck behind some talent and his senior year he should really shine. Also a mainstay on the Giants offensive line and probably could play that in college as well.

Has performed well at the last two combines that have been in Indy. One to keep an eye on.

Who was the last player ND had from Ben Davis?
None, at least scholarship, dating back to the 70s according to our database. We've flirted with some, but a majority of the time the kids are poor students such as James Banks back in 2001, who ultimately wound up at Tennessee.

With that height and weight, he looks like NT material.

By the way, I'm calling it right now (I'm sure some of you know where this is going).

Whenever he pledges to a college, the headline will read, "Stepp in the right direction," now isn't that clever?

Way too early to know just how good he'll be, but he's an early nominee to be 09's Braxston Cave. What that exactly means? Not too too sure. IN lineman? *Shrugs*.

I plan on making it out to see Stepp this season. I'm shooting for an October 12th date as they will be playing Carmel, who has another player that has attended camp at Notre Dame, dual threat QB Morgan Carter.

Stepp had the top reps for the bench in San Antonio at 41.
He ran a 5.06 forty at 290lbs and dominated one on ones losing once in over 30 reps.
He jumped to OL and took 4 reps only against Jacobbi McDaniels and won 3 0f 4.

Wow. I can't believe we recruited James Bank the thug. Word is he had a partying problem at Ben Davis and wasn't a quality character. I'm surprised that Davie wouldn't get that he was a thug.

Yes, he has the grades from what I know. He is a bright kid, that does his share of community service to.
He is very well liked by everyone that knows him teachers, coaches, parents and classmates. He is a good kid that would make a impact at ND on and off the field if given the chance.

As Advertised

Jordan Stepp (6-0, 285), Defensive tackle
Indianapolis/Ben Davis
Stepp won the defense line MVP award on Friday with the same hardnosed, "smack you in the mouth" style we saw on his junior film. He may lack ideal height at just 6-feet, and his body structure is not ideal, but Stepp utilized his stout frame to his advantage all day getting under blockers' pads and jolting them upright with great explosiveness. His quickness off the ball for a player with his girth was impressive, and he battled hard in the trenches. Could have been a "Stock Up" candidate but we had Stepp graded at a solid 77 before the camp, and he justified the ranking and his under-the-radar status.

Good size for a DE/NT in the 3-4. It looked like he had some good moves as well. I'd like to see us go more for the Indianapolis area, which we are doing with Stepp, Martin, Newton, and Koehne.
