Do you watch or attend a lot of high school football games in your community? Do you have a passion or interest in recruiting? Have a camera? If so, the Gold Helmet wants you! Grassroots Recruitniks Unite!
We're launching the Grassroots Recruitnik initiative here at Gold Helmet to help identify and cover prep prospects from around the country so we can provide expansive and well rounded coverage on potential Notre Dame and college football prospects. We need individuals in every state to step up and join the Gold Helmet recruitnik staff. If you're interested, drop me a message to discuss this opportunity.
Candidates should attend at least two games every month during high school football season. A digital camera would also be a good tool to provide images.

I would but the biggest player to ever come out of my schools conference went to hampton(d1AA). It was wierd he had 46 TDs last year too. My conference sucks

I'm hitting the central Florida area. I already have a J. Brown game against Edgewater(Brewster goes there) on my schedule.

Its funny because Nick and I have talked about collaborating on this kind of a project over at DD. But when I think about it, might be simpler to have the 1st hand reporter do the write up. *Shrugs*

For a college student doing part time retail work, thats easier said than done. I'll give it a go, but I'm not sure how many Friday nights I'll have just laying around, and I don't want to have my Saturdays swallowed up by this either, for obvious reasons . AKA, 2 games a month may be hard to do for me. So I may have to be selective, and plan out my visits if you follow.
That said, there are some schools that are pretty close by for me that I could swing by if I've got nothing better to do. But the big 3 I'd love to see are the committed prospects from Illinois - Steve Filer, Darius Fleming, and Sean Cwynar. In fact, there are two dates I'm honing in on where I could kill 2 birds with 1 stone. First date is 9/14, where St. Rita (Fleming) visits Mt. Carmel (Filer). The other is 10/5, when Marian Central Catholic (Cwynar) hosts Montini (Garrett Goebel). Should be exciting - definitely gives me a flavor for the defensive gets we'll bring in. Plus I could keep my eye on that big end prospect for the '09 group, Lendell Buckner.
And I do have a digital camera, so there's a plus IMO.

I'll see what I can do. I've never even been to a high school football game since I've lived here. But if there's a game with a prospect, I can see if I can get my wife to let me out of da house. :)

The only good players to come from anywhere around here were Blair Kiel, way, way, long ago, and his son, Drew Kiel, last year. I'll try to go to a few games if I hear of any big prospects in the area, though.

You in the Columbus area? I believe they have a pretty solid team with some D1 talent. Isn't there another Kiel this year, too?

I'm a good bit south of there, but they're the only good team around here really. There is another one, who backed up Drew last year. They killed everyone in the conference, so he would usually come in in the 4th quarter. He's already moving up the schools all-time passing list.

Being in Austin, there is almost no point unless I know a kid is considering ND, because we all know where these kids are going to college.

Amen lol. I'm going to try and catch one of Hafis' games, and I could take pics at the games of all the games i go to. i go to about 24 over the year. 32 if you count my frosh games as well lol. The only thing is most of my games are group 1 in South Jersey (so no ND prospects). But if you would like a different flavor of football, I'd be more than happy to do an article and some pics. Svo, just PM me if ur interested.

I plan on seeing Omar Hunter and Jamoris Slaughter play this year. I'll also give you guys a sneak peak at the easiest commit ND could get from the class of 2011. My brother who is going to play on varsity as a freshman for the defending 5A state champs in Georgia. Head Coach is Slaughter's head coach from last year.

CULion...going into 9th grade playing on Varsity on one of the best teams in GA ???(assuming one of the best teams). thats awesome...tell your brother to look out for corwin in the stands if he plays D....at my HS we usually are supposed to not like the class lower than us, but if u can persuade him to ND ill cheer for one of them

I guess Brandon Newman is my responsibility then. His team should be better this year, so that should help. They weren't great last year.
FYI, UofL fan still thinks they are steal him away because they have a better program now.

I know that, he only visited because UofL was 10 minutes from his house. But they now consider themselves "elite" and they can get anyone they want. On their rivals board, there is a thread going about how USC is overrated and they can take them. Plus the usual anti ND stuff you see on every board. I think this years team is the best they will ever have, because they are losing the best QB and best WR they have ever had, plus others.

I live in CT. We usually have just like a couple of good school. It's like Greenwich, Ansonia and any team Jack Cochran coaching . Even though it isn't a hotbed for 5 star guys it's still a good time...
Gallup21,
I used to live in Mass (Bedford/Hanscom AFB). When I lived up there Everett was killing everyone up there. Who's the beast up in Mass now?
