The Irish are looking to possibly offer Martin who currently holds offers from LSU, Mississippi State, Arkansas, Maryland, UCLA, Duke, Louisville, Minnesota and Cincinnati. He is also hearing from South Carolina, Clemson, and pOSU in addition to the Irish.
Pat Martin said that Coach Martin told him that his film was the best of any DB in the country that he has seen this year. Pat's Dad is also apparently an Irish fan. He also said that if offered by ND he would pencil the Irish in for an Official Visit in the Fall.

Pat said he will use OV's for fall visits to LSU and UCLA. Will use another OV to pOSU if they offer. Martin named his priorities in order as coaching stability, academics and history of putting players in the NFL.

Pat says Cincinnati and LSU are currently standing out. Plans to get down to a top five at the end of the summerand wants to announce on signing day. Will go anywhere and distance doesn't matter. Looking for education, coaching stability and a history of getting guys to the NFL. He'd like to hear from Florida, OU and Boise State.

Safety Pat Martin (Greenville, S.C./J.L. Mann) continues to impress at every combine/camp he attends. The 5-11, 200-pounder ran a 4.25 shuttle and a 7.22 L-cone, so his testing numbers were solid all around. His performance in the one-on-one and seven-on-seven portions of the event, however, were what stood out. Similar to his showing at the VTO Elite 100 Combine on April 3 in Charlotte, N.C., Martin did not allow many receivers to get off the line of scrimmage against him and showed excellent instincts when the ball was in the air to knock down passes.
On the recruiting front, Tennessee offered this week, and Martin says he plans to release a top-five list next month. LSU, Minnesota, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Arkansas and a host of other schools have offered him.

Which 5 recruits do you think will have the biggest leap in the TR 250 during the summer? Which highly sought prospects will drop in the TR 250 this summer?

Trending up:
Pat Martin (J.L. Mann, SC/S) - If he ran a 4.4 he'd be a 5 star player. He was all
everything this past year in South Carolina and is a coach on the field. Very
instinctive and quite honestly overlooked by some thus far in the cycle. He'll be
in our top 150 at the very least.

JL Mann (Greenville, SC) safety Pat Martin has seen his stock soar recently. As the top defensive back in the state of South Carolina and one of the top DBs in the nation, Martin has been terrorizing receivers and running backs, lighting up camps and combines, and raking in scholarship offers.
“I probably don’t remember them all, but these are the ones off the top of my head that I know: LSU, Tennessee, Duke, Maryland, Arkansas, Cincinnati, Wisconsin, Louisville, Oklahoma, UCLA. Those are the ones I can think of right now but I have like 5 more, I just cant think of them right now,” he says when asked who has offered. Georgia Tech and Oregon have also been showing a lot of interest of late, but there is one offer in particular that Martin is looking for.
“I want an offer bad from Florida. I grew up watching them on TV. That’s a team I want a scholarship from. Me and Coach Chuck Heater, we talk on the phone every now and then. If it comes, it comes and if it don‘t, it don‘t. I‘ll just work hard for another school.”
Pat says UCLA and LSU are recruiting him the hardest and mentions a few coaches that stick out for him. “I’ve got a good relationship with Georgia Tech coach Todd Spencer. Me and him talk a lot. And Coach John Chavis at LSU, me and him have a good relationship. And Coach Reggie Moore from UCLA, we’ve got a good relationship too.”
Martin lists three main things that will factor into his decision when the time comes for him to choose where he’ll play at the next level. “Number one is education because you go to school for school. Like if I got hurt or something, God forbid, I’d want a great job with some good money. And two is coaching stability. Like I want a school that’s gonna have coaching stability and not have different coaches every two years. Number three is the ability for them to get me ready for the NFL. So those are the top three reasons that I’m looking for.”
He’s planning on majoring in engineering and says he would like to work for NASA some day. He doesn’t have a favorite at the moment, but hopes to come out with a top 5 sometime towards the end of spring or the beginning of the summer once he has some more offers on the table. He intends to take his official visits, but isn’t sure where just yet. There is one school that he has penciled in for an official visit though, “I know for sure I’m going to UCLA because I’ve got an aunt that lives in California, so I know I’m going to UCLA because I can't just get in a car and drive to California.”
As for when he plans to commit, Pat says, “Well I’ve been nominated for the Army All-American game. If I get in that game, I’m gonna do it there.”
On the football field, Martin is a very physical safety with great instincts and the ability to read and react instantly. It’s as though he knows the opponent’s play before the snap. Usually it takes years and years of reps and time in the film room to hone the type of instincts Pat displays on the field, but amazingly, this past season was his first at safety. It seems Martin is just a natural.
“This year, for my team, I’m playing safety, running back and kick returner. This was my first year playing safety because I played running back all the way up until my junior year. I guess it’s God-given ability. I just go out there and try to make plays every time I step on the field. A lot of my coaches say the same thing like I have the tendency to react so quick and you don’t see that in too many safeties out there.”
Last month at the VTO combine at Mallard Creek High School in Charlotte, NC, some of the most talented prospects in the Carolinas were on hand to participate in drills. Some of the top names in attendance included quarterbacks Christian LeMay and Marquise Williams, tight ends Eric MacLain and Drew Owens, and defensive linemen Roderick Byers and Desmond Floyd. But it was Martin who put on perhaps the best performance. Coming in at 6’0” and 207 pounds, Pat showed his athleticism and agility to everyone on hand, displaying quick feet, loose hips and the ability to play in space.
His skill set gives him options as far as what position he’ll play, but he says most everyone wants him as a safety. “Everybody is just saying safety. LSU and Louisville said I could play anything I want to, corner or safety. But everybody says mainly safety. I’m trying to be one of the best safeties in America, that’s my goal. I’m gonna keep working hard and doing it up.
“And try to win that Thorpe one day.”
Pat's stock is really taking off I wish ND would pull the trigger here and offer this kid. I would put Pat behind only Wayne for the safety position. This kid's film is impressive.

Judging from his reaction to the commitment, it may be another SC product, safety Pat Martin, is right behind Worley to UT.
