Looks like the Irish may be heading back to The Gilman School (http://www.goldhelmet.com/getschool.php?school=The%20Gilman%20School&city=Baltimore&state=MD) well for another prospect in 2009. In 2003 the Irish landed Abiamiri and Wooden from the school.

Yes, to much wailing and gnashing of turtle beaks. Let's do it again. It was fun.

I can't believe we are discussing 09 kids already. With the way we are closing the deal this year I guess we have that luxury

There's a '10 prospects board, too. Got to plan for the future.

Going back to Gilman for another player. Sounds good to me. The two players we got from them before turned out to be pretty good as far as I'm concerned.

agreed, Wooden will be 1 of the leaders in the secondary this year, and Abiamiri is now playin for my hometown Eagles who start camp tommorrow (good luck to both).

Also read the write up about this kid. Being 6'0 already is a luxury for a physical DB, lets hope this kid has what it takes to be a good one.

My favorite '09 prospect. Jordan is a great kid that has great size and speed, would be ideal for the type of corner ND is going after now. LSU is his childhood favorite though.

Recruitment Update

Love had a pretty impressive performance at the San Antonio combine, and is continuing to turn heads. He attends a very prestigious all boys prep school that is also the alma mater of ND grads Victor Abiamiri & Ambrose Wooden. Notre Dame is very familiar with Gilman. Gilman’ arch rival is the McDonogh School, home of Class of 2008 member Lane Clelland.

Jordan is planning on attending Notre Dame’s March Junior Day and was a standout performer at a 2007 summer camp. He was also in attendance for the 2007 USC game. ND, BC, and Wake Forest are his early leaders, but with an offer ND would probably take the lead here. Due to his versatility, Notre Dame is now recruiting Jordan as an Athlete.

He just picked up an offer from Penn State. Of all of the recruits coming to South Bend this weekend I'd like him to pick up an offer the most.

This is coming from a PSU site so take it FWIW because they are still reeling from losing Deion Walker to ND. According to the report, after taking in Junior Days at PSU, Wake Forest, and ND, Jordan is saying that his Top 2 right now are PSU & Wake Forest.

Of course what this report does not say is that PSU & Wake Forest are currently the only two schools that Jordan has offers from, so that statement could be as much a "DUH' as anything else. Nonetheless, ND could fall out of the picture here if they do not offer fairly soon as Love is most likely to commit before his Senior Year starts.

Love has transferred from the Gilman School to Deep Run HS in Glen Allen, VA, same school as another highly touted 2009 prospect, Antone Exum.

Now has offers from PSU, Wake, Louisville, Tennessee, and Rutgers.

His Top 2 are PSU & Wake. If that sounds familiar it is because that is also the Top 2 of his buddy Michael Campanaro.

Campanaro and Love are headed to Wake Forest this weekend, and Love is expecting Campanaro to commit there on the trip, but Love himself is saying he is not ready yet to do the same.

IUB - With Campanero and Love both on the outside and our chances greatly diminishing, do you think CB is a position of need for at least one recruit in 09? It doesn't appear the staff is too concerned about bringing in a CB in this class. With McGee and E.J. Banks playing QB and being more ATH, I don't think there's a TRUE CB. I'd prefer a smaller / quicker potential nickel back who could compliment the bigger / more physical Slaughter / Blanton. Maybe it's just me - but I keep thinking it's impossible to not bring in one corner with teams like Michigan moving to spread offenses.

The problem I believe is there appears to only be a couple of names with potential mutual interest...Travis Hawkins has a large offer sheet and Riyahd Richardson came in for the Junior Day. I think there's a very real possibility this class has none. Your thoughts?

One guy you did not mention is Corey Brown who ND is also looking at primarily as a CB, but what you are saying is absolutely correct, they have not really offered a TRUE CB, and the lack of interest in guys like Love/Campanaro show that they seem to have no intention of doing so. This is really the same as last year though as it is obvious that Corwin Brown prefers bigger stronger guys to play the Corner, guys that are typically High School Safety's like Blanton & Slaughter. Therefore most of the DB offers that we will see throughout the Corwin Brown era are going to HS Safety's who will hopefully have enough speed to play the Corner in College. I would also feel more comfortable with more speed at the Corner, even if it's in a smaller package, but CB's obviously looking at big guys with that type speed, like Craig Loston. Unfortunately, ND has not yet been successful recruiting the big guys with the true 4.4 speed, so only time is going to tell whether this strategy will work out.

P.S. Richardson did not make it to either ND Junior Day, and even if he did, with his size I do not see him ever getting an Irish offer. If they are ever looking for a guy with similar size as Richardson to fill that need of a speedy nickel back, I would rather see them offer Damien Thigpen who has true combine documented sub 4.4 speed.

Looks live Love is still holding out for an Irish offer before he decides to head to PSU or join his buddy Campanaro at Wake. He is expecting a visit from the the ND staff sometime this month and is hoping they bring an offer with them.

They need to offer him. I don't think another year of just taking smaller safties to play a physical CB would be to smart. Apparently Love has offers from PSU, Tennessee, Florida and Georgia among many other good teams so I don't think he's a slouch.

Smaller safeties....are you nuts.....McCarthy is on about 6'3"....and both Sgt. Slaughter and Lt. Blanton are at least 6'1"!!! That's not small in my book.....small would be MeatChicken taking BoBo last year when he was only 5'8" on a good day!!!

Jordan will not be joining Campanaro at Wake as he has dropped Wake from his Top 2 in favor of Georgia. No word yet on whether Love has been visited by any ND coaches, but as of right now he is planning on making a choice before the end of the month. Unless ND gets into the mix here very quickly with an offer that choice almost certainly appears to be PSU.

There is some speculation that he won't end up pulling the trigger by the end of the month, he may let his recruitment continue to draw out longer. Spots in the Penn State secondary are disappearing fast so if he is waiting to see if anyone else can change his mind he may end up working himself out of the mix; I'm expecting Penn State to get another verbal by the end of Memorial Day weekend...of course Jordan could decide to end his recruitment at any time he wants but he may not do it by his own admitted end of May time-line.

Shouldn't the HS in post #1 read The Gilman School rather than Deep Run HS in Glan Allen, VA?

I pass The Gilman school about once a week in my travels.

Question- If he were to get the offer, would ND go into the mix w GA and PSU?
Would he be worth the spot before Banks?

On the surface I would say yes to the first part. Love has always seemed to be very interested in ND. It all depends on whether he takes an attitude on why it took so long for ND to offer, even though he knows it has to do with academics.

As to the second part, Love is more of a pure CB than Banks, but I don't think offering Love (if they do so) has anything to do with Banks. There is room for 2 DB's in this class, especially when one of the two is a extremely versatile athlete like Banks.

Jordan said Georgia and Penn State were neck and neck, but that he and his mother felt more comfortable with the Georgia staff and philosophy. He also had family in the area, which increased his comfort level there as well.
