I think that game was a good measuring stick of where we really belong.

I realistically think that ND is top 12.

Not ready to think this team is top 12, but we are definetly a top 20 team right now.

Where do we belong or where will we be? We probably belong right where we're at, but we will be out. They have to drop us after a loss

What is everyone's opinion, do we stay ranked? I think they stay around 24-25th even with the loss.

I think we stay ranked personally. I think our offense is the best in the business, defense, not so much. I look at teams in the top 25 I see us being better than atleast 10 of them

out of rankings, but still in others. I think Michigan will bounce back in front us. I think if ND beats BC they are back in and can finish the year in top 10-15 range if they can win out.

We are probably around 17th best in the country. Honestly, I want to drop out of the rankings. I do not want to get murdered in a BCS Bowl which would happen if we would make it.

Why do you think we would get murdered in a BCS bowl? We were right there with USC who would probably be ranked #2 in the country if Barkley didn't miss the Washington game plus we would have Floyd back. If we got matched up against Cincinnati or Boise st I think we destroy them. Alabama (assuming they lost to Florida in the SEC champ) would be an interesting matchup but no way we get murdered.

We are probably around 17th best in the country. Honestly, I want to drop out of the rankings. I do not want to get murdered in a BCS Bowl which would happen if we would make it.

If we go to a BCS Bowl there is a very good chance that we get matched up with Texas (the Big XII champion) or the top at-large team (my guess is Miami). Both of those teams are much better than we are.

I don't think we will be ranked in the top 14 even if we win out, not without Pitt or someone jumping high up into the rankings before our game

I think right now you have to assume Texas plays the winner of Alabama and Florida in the National Title game. I don't see Texas losing to Oklahoma st or Kanas. You would probably have USC and Iowa in the Rose Bowl (that'll be ugly).

I'm not eactly sure how the rest of the Bowls get picked but I would think Alabama/Florida vs Cincinnati in the Sugar. So ND could get matched up against Virgina Tech in the Orange bowl or they could get matched up against an undefeated Boise St team or Miami (if they win out) in the Fiesta bowl.

Anway my point is against any of those teams with a healthy Floyd I think we can win and I certainly don't think we get murdered.

I am so sick of the naysayers and the critics... they just love keep us down! At least for me this game solidified the fact this team is legit and they will only get better!

Right now my opinion would be somewhere between 25-20. If they win out, and I mean no close ones, firing on all cylinders, I say a 10-2 Irish team is 13-10. All is right in the world when Floyd comes back. The ability of this offense to score at will with him on the field, puts pressure on an opponents offense to match score for score, and can have serious effects on a game plan, thus changing the way we are forced to play defense.

ND wins on Saturday against bc they will be ranked again( 20-23 ). Beat Washington St they will move up ( 16-19 ). Beat Navy and they will be (13-15 ) going into the Pitt. game, win at Pitt the Irish could be ranked as high as #10 IMO

im going a bit slower than you but here is my course
win against BC(25-22), Wazzu(23-20, just based on other teams screwing up), Navy(21-18), Pittsburgh(17-15) UConn(15-13) and stanford(10-13). If a lot of teams screw up the rise obviously could go a lot quicker.

current polls. "Stars" is the Rivals av star rating of
four years of scholarships recruits (quality #). THe
"Pnts." is the team recruiting points (quality + Quanti-

The best thing for ND right now besides winning out:

Hope Pitt keeps winning, and ND beats the absolute crap out of them on the road.

Don't do that and let the "ND doesn't deserve to be in the ....... bowl" crap start.

the bcs is the real poll, whether anyone wants it to be or not. So far we have moved up in the sagarin rankings from NR to 23rd which will give us a nice jump in the bcs. If that is anything similar in the other computer polls we will be ranked

unless we continue to build on the defensive changes made against BC, and see significant improvement in the secondary, we would get soundly beaten in a BCS game. i want the irish to win out as much as anyone, but sheesh...we've got a lot of work to do on defense.

hopefully our performance against BC was a hangover from SoCal. that level of play will not beat Pitt or Stanford.

The defense only gave 14 points and had 5 takeaways. I think they are on the right track with the changes.

It does seem like they are starting to get back on track, but it is only one game. Nevada game aside, I'd still like to see a game where we don't make an average player or two look like an all-american.

they also gave up more than 10 pass plays of 20 yards or more. we blitzed with 5 rushers on 4th and 17 late in the fourth and gave up a 30 yard pass play. we gave up 175 yards receiving to a single player that, until saturday, wasn't exactly a household name. BC had a disappointingly high rate of 3rd and 4th down conversions.

IMO, it was refreshing to see the bump and run coverage. But it'll take time to get new players like Slaughter and Motta into a rhythm. Bill Stull (Pitt) might not be an all-american, but he won't throw into coverage the way Shinskie did on Saturday.

The excessive blitzing late in the game is inexplicable. I love watching an aggressive defense, but blitzing on long passing downs that pull defenders from the secondary defies logic. With a four point lead in the waning minutes of the fourth quarter, when BC has the ball in their own territory and is backed up 17 yards from a first down, what are we trying to prove by rushing 5-6 guys and leaving an already suspect secondary at a numbers disadvantage?

I keep reading alot about conflicting styles between Corwin & Tenuta and that may be part of the problem which makes some sense when you think about it. They do need to settle on one system and recruit the players to fit it.

I agree it was nice to see the corners come up in press a lot more. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying the D is good at this point just that they are trying and I saw some good things (main thing being only 14 points) The only league you get points for yards is fantasy league. My only problem with the blitz is that is does not get there. One of the keys to a blitz is to send more than they can block and we never do that.

One last thing if the O scores their Avg. going in,,, we win by 3 scores and no one is moaning about this game.
