No Ohio games. Big mistake.

Don't make any mistake -- the players in these games are many of those that will be rated highly by their rankings and/or playing in their All-State game.

I'm surprised none of the Herbstreit games aren't on the docket.

I agree napoleonbuck. The Herbstreit challenge puts some of the best teams in the country against some of Ohio's best. Would think there would be some top national talent on display.

That's what I was thinking. H.S. football is huge in Ca, Tx, and OH. But we seemed to have been left off?

There are some big games in Ohio without looking at the Herbie games. McKinley-Massilon(McKinley is always talented, and Massilon will have one of the top three players in Ohio and one of the best running backs in the nation in DeVoe Torrence).
St. Xavier - St. Ignatius should be a match up of the two best Division one teams this year. LaSalle and Elder each feature a top 5 Ohio player. Dublin Coffman features two top one hundred players, including the top player in Ohio and one of the ten best prospects in the nation in Mike Adams, has a division one linebacker, a division one WR, and a division one QB. I know Columbus teams aren't usually that good, but I have to think they play at least one other team that should be among the best in Ohio.

Agree that there are some good games to pick from, but did you mean top 10 Tackle prospect?? I think Adams is a player, but he is not in the overall Top 10 in my view (although I do recognize that Scout have him at 11 - which IMO is a bit high).
But, then again, what do I know? My last name isn't Farrell:confused:

He's a top three tackle prospect. Farrell actually thinks Adams should be higher than he is currently. It's another guy at Rivals(Shurburtt I believe) that is responsible for Adams being so low, and has said as much on the Rivals board.
I think he legitimately one of the top ten players in the nation. He had offers from EVERYONE by signing day. Everyone wanted him bad. Same applies for Brewster IMO.
Rivals had him on that first team All-Junior list, he was featured on all their early lists of best Tackles, and then after he commits to Ohio state he falls like a rock, and it had nothing to do with his talent.

The midwest in general has terrible representation. No OH, IL, IN, MI or MN teams but teams from New Mexico?
Wonder if the Big Ten Network has anything to do with it?

I don't see why the Big Ten network would affect this. B10 network isn't covering anything with regards to high school sports. I'm not even sure they'll have anything with recruiting when signing day comes around.
Another big game I thought of is Glenville(lots of division one prospects and a top 100 player this year in Cordale Scott and a potential five star next year in Marcus Hall) against Warren Central. I think Glenville is playing Long Beach Poly in the Herbie.

Because if the Big Ten network is pulling games from ESPN, why promote the area of the country that is primarily Big Ten country? Lots of money at stake.

I still don't see why they would do that though. Big Ten Network isn't even taking games from ESPN. IIRC, the Big Ten/ESPN contract is still the biggest among all the conferences. The Big Ten Network is basically just showing games between Minnesota and Northern Idaho, and the conference "battles" between Northwestern and Indiana. ESPN and ABC will still get every one of the good games, and it will stay that way for a while.

This year. But in order for the Big Ten Network to truly succeed and get subs, they'll eventually need to have their premier games on their network exclusively.
I was just more or less thinking out loud, but I fully expect the Big Ten to clash with ESPN before it's all said and done.

I don't think that will happen at all. The Big Ten Network exists solely for the smaller football/basketball games and to show the olympic sports. ESPN and ABC will always get first pick of games before the Big Ten Network. Always.
The Big Ten Network will get subscriptions by showing small Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, and Wisconsin games on the network, thus forcing local cable companies to pick it up unless they want their subscribers to switch to satellite.
I believe the Big Ten/ESPN contract was extended while the B10 network was still being discussed, and both parties knew about it.

Signing day???? You mean when he verballed, right. Signing day won't happen for 7 months....
As to him being a Top10, your opinion, and you're entitled to it.....I don't see him being in the top 10 (but I also agree that Rivals has him way to low as both a Tackle and an overall). Even if he is a Top3 Tackle (and that would get a lot of arguments), it would be tough for him to then be a top10 overall prospect with guys like Hill/Pryor/Scott/# of great WR's/strong LB class/etc.
The beauty of the 'science' of evaluations/ratings......

I'm talking about the signing day for 2007 recruits. Ohio State generally doesn't accept commits until the last class is signed, sealed, and delivered.
Let me put it this way, every school in the country would love to have Adams(his offer list shows that), he dropped solely because he committed early, and his ranking is much closer to number 1 than it is to number 98.
I'm curious, what tackles would you put in front of Adams? Also consider that Brewster is going to play Center in college(though he could play any position on the line, which is why he's the best lineman in the country IMO).

Given that many of these guys move around, you could debate endlessly who is a Tackle v Guard v Center. If you want to move Brewster out (Rivals have him at OT - and BTW I agree that he is the best overall OL this year) we can do that; but I honestly think he is too tall to play C (IMO).
The OT's that I would put ahead of Adams:
-Khalil (even though I hate SC)
-Patchan (I hope, but doubt, we get him)
-Good
-Steinkuhler
Kind of hard to compare these guys with combine-like atmosphere (most don't camp in same places)

Yep Our Head coach notified us a few days ago but I didn't want to come running to the board like a proud kid (I feel like one), you guys will all get to see our slow tough white kids. We play one of the perennial top teams in San Diego, but they lost their Hall of Fame coach (retired after last season), but they are always so well coached and it should be a great game. NOTE you will probably not see me (I'm in the booth and I help call plays).

I'm tell you, it's just the beginning. They added ESPNU and it isn't long before they add ESPNHS to go along with it. They have their own Bowl Game -- they're leveraging themselves to go after Rivals and Scout.

I'd luv espn to focus more on recruiting. I see that as a huge area of opportunity. Unfortunately, we have to look to espn to do it.
