Didn't really think I'd see the day. As of today both Scout and Rivals have ND's class ranked #1 in the country. Hopefully the remaining recruits can keep them there.

Dont worry pUSC is going to get another 5 5 stars and take number1. JK we probably can stay #1, but a top 3 would be fine by me.

If we land our remaining targets we may end up with the # 1 class. If not then at least a top 3-5 class

As far as fulfilling our needs, I think we did as well as anybody, especially if we land the rest of the guys we're in on (I'm thinking Floyd, Baldwin, Filer, Trev, and a RB).

I don't care where we end up as long as we keep the guys we have. I like them and if the paid sites want to adjust the stars, then so be it.

Terrelle Pryor, Shayne Hale, Cordale Scott, Josh Jenkins, Garrett Goebel, Keith Wells/Quinton Coples, Lamar Thomas, Jeff Fuller, Willie Mobley, Kenny Tate, DJ Woods(who could easily be a four star the next time the rankings are updated because he's been lighting up all the camps and combines), and a few others would certainly put Ohio State in position for number one from a quality standpoint.

Notre Dame will probably have 6-7 more recruits than Ohio State, but Ohio State could easily have a higher star rating.

It's beginning to look like anOSU, USC, and ND will be at the end of the finish line. I think FL has a LOAD of work ahead of them to take the cake. Especially since Miami, and FSU are kicking them in the nuts.

How many can anOSU take?

I believe we're at 17 right now without taking into consideration any early entries in the NFL draft. Vernon Gholston and Malcolm Jenkins look like they could leave, and Boone and Lauranitis could also leave. Will most likely be 17-19 though, and 9(ten if you count Cordale Scott who is all but locked up) are already taken.

-------I think Malcom could be a first round pick if he has another impressive season this year. Very underrated Jersey (Piscataway) player coming out of HS, but people here knew how good he was.

Everything sounds good on Jenkins. He just visited with his mother, and he's coming for an official sometime.

If I had to guess, I'd say he decommits sometime before winter, and then commits to Ohio State at the Army All American game(where he'll be playing with Brewster, Adams, and Shugarts, though he'll be on the other team IIRC).

I know the insiders like where we are with Jenkins. His mom and our O-line coach who put this haul together are from the same town, and I guess they got along great on the visit.

Edit:

I think Jenkins is one that's definitely going pro. He has everything you want in a Cornerback. He's great in coverage, he's physical, and he has speed to burn. He could probably work on his patience a little bit, but he'll be a top 15 pick next year IMO barring injury. Recruits like Jenkins are why Ohio State fans don't get caught up in rankings. Every year it seems we go after some two or three star player, and the fans complain. However, those players end up being 2/3 year starters and leaving early and we replace them with another hidden gem that the fans complain about.

I like this way of thinking. Let's get a few more of the guys on the wish list then hold on. I could care less what rivals thinks of them. This is going to be an outstanding class following a couple straight very good classes. Consistent strong recruiting breeds consistent on field success. We have seen neither as of late. The last two years of recruiting have been a breath of fresh air. And this year the air smells that much sweeter.

This one kind of falls under this category, since it does pertain to the race for the mythical recruiting title.

Don't look now, but Miami is putting together quite the haul themselves. If they keep this up they'll be in the hunt as well. Nobody is recruiting like ND, but that doesn't mean nobody is recruiting well either. They just picked up a pledge from WR Adalius Johnson out of Florida, who's quite a good prospect. The answer is YES, they did fuse the genes of Adalius Thomas and Chad Johnson to create the ultimate football player. But, in all seriousness, he's a very good player, and their class is starting to grab some momentum as well.

And for those keeping tabs on Marcus Forston, thats the 3rd kid from Miami Northwestern HS to pick "The U" this year. Not a smoking gun, but birds of a feather have a way of flocking together (as we found out with Dayne Crist, Anthony McDonald, and Joseph Fauria, all of whom were connected one way or another). I know the two may have little to zero correlation, but Miami picking up their 3rd pledge out of the same school, and before the season even starts? Has me feeling less and less confident about ND's odds with Forston.

I honestly don't see any of the Florida schools taking the top two spots this year. Florida did it last year because the other Florida schools were down. This year, Florida State and Miami are recruiting well, it's going to be difficult for Florida to pull another elite class unless Urban begins poaching. Ohio State can possibly, but at the same time, that means that they will have to win almost all their main targets and there are a lot of them left. USC is going to be up there, along with Texas and I'm expecting a dark horse similar to Tennessee from last year to make some noise, possibly Florida State.

------Miami will clean house at Miami Northwestern, but will have too many 3 stars as well to propell them above us IMO. I see them being 1 or 2 spots at the most behind us. Florida won't be in the top 5 this year IMO because they can't bring in 30 f'n kids like usual this year. They have a # this year around 18 and they have two 3 stars already. Urban would have to poach like a madman this year and be successful as ever to finish ahead of us as well. I see the only teams finishing ahead of us being USC (no brainer) and MAYBE FSU and thats only if they nabb Butler, Walker and a few more real big time players. Once again those 3 stars hold you down and FSU has alot of them. Do I think ND will finish with the top class? No, but I do think they end up in the top 3 if we finish strong.

A lot of that makes sense. I don't know that Miami has the statistics to be at the top of the mountain. I do see them making a strong push for the top 5 though. Miami could finish off with a real big bang, seeing as they are legitimate contenders for Arthur Brown (listed them, USC, and OU as the teams that will be in it 'til the end), Matt Patchan (UM legacy), and Marcus Forston (see comments pertaining to Northwestern HS for details). Depending on how the season goes, all three could end up as consensus 5 stars - I think Forston is already a lock for 5. I don't think re-rankings will be enough to put this group over the top, but its still pretty loaded as is, and could make a move on the likes of Georgia and OU - teams that have cooled off a bit after starting out hot.

OSU would be a bigger threat if they weren't hamstrung with a # hovering around 17-18 commits. Similar boat as Florida; they'll always get theirs,

I agree that USC and FSU are the best bets to move into the top 3 with ND. Where the dust settles beyond that is pretty hard to tell right now. After that, the strongest candidates to round out the top 5 are Miami, and OU. Texas and UCLA started out hot, but I'm not sure about their space limitations, not to mention how many elite guys are left on either team's board.

The thing about the Florida schools is, they don't need to get top ranked classes. There is so much talent down there that they end up taking a lot of very athletic kids who may have been overlooked by the services because it's hard to stand out. Sure, they will get their share of 4 and 5 star guys, but some of those three star guys may be a 200 pound 4.45 running back out of some little high school who they will bring in, pack on a few pounds and make an All Conference LB. There's enough talent to go around in that state that even when all three are strong, they will recruit well.

This is true....it's not uncommon to hear of 5 or 6 kids from each high school going D-1 on schollie. Not all to the big boys, but still some that may see Sundays if they get into the right program. Honestly though, I think even the Cans are going to have a hard time passing us. Say we take only 5 more guys. Look at the list of guys vying for those spots. Nobody less than a 4 star. Our ranking is only going up boys.
