Highly regarded quarterback Sean Renfree not only plays for a Scottsdale, Ariz., school called Notre Dame Prep, his dad, Kevin Renfree, was a walk-on linebacker who played two seasons at the more famous Notre Dame, the one in South Bend, Ind. Kevin's father and brother attended that Notre Dame, too. So, who will Kevin root for Sept. 1 when his son's future school plays under the watchful eyes of Touchdown Jesus? "I think," Sean Renfree said, "he's going to be pulling for Georgia Tech now." ... Renfree will be far from home when he comes to the Flats, but he has an aunt in Atlanta and relatives in Knoxville, New Orleans and Florida. He's looking forward to college but knows there will be a culture change, not just from the regional differences but from the size of the school. About 160-180 students were in his high school junior class. "It's going to be a big transition for me," Renfree said. "Not a whole lot of things are similar." ... Birthday greetings to offensive lineman Cord Howard, who turned 20 on Monday, to fullback Mike Cox, who turns 22 on Wednesday and to safety Joe Gaston and linebacker Travis Chambers, who turn 23 and 21 on Thursday.
