1) 2004 = 2008
2005=2009 in my opinion
Weis took a team that was tanked 81st in offense to top ten in one season
2008 offense will finish around 40th in total off or something, to how good in 2009?
2007 3-9 Last Year
2008 6-6 this year
2009 ???
These records can be correlated with sr class ranking
2007 worst SR class in ND history PLUS tons of defections, worst season in ND history
2008 One of the worst Sr classes in ND history PLUS a few defections, lose on senior day headed to 6-6 on season but were on the cusp
2009 Breakthrough season
We got peices to the puzzle coming in with explosive players such as Cierre Wood, Shaq Evans and even Eifert who tore it up last night and is headed to state! Why throw it all the way when from a positive point of view, this year we r this year, 3 plays away from being 9-3 headed out to USC. Manti Teo getting hit by snowballls when the fans have no concept of the big picture, patience is a virtue and we gotta walk before we sprint! Hitting recruits with snowballs is not going to get us recruits or change anything!
Also, just for people that wouldn't like the sun bowl, OSU lossed in the Outback bowl in 2001 dropping them to 7-5 and went on to win the NC the next year. So it's not like a 7-6 or even a 7-5 hasn't rose to great things the next year! Patience is a virtue!

I'm interested in seeing in what ways Charlie kills the career of Shaq, Cierre, and the other offensive recruits.
I have to question the judgment of players who are coming to ND.

if charlie is indeed a qb maker he better get some people in their that are dl, db, ol, rb, te, wr makers and a staff that can put a serious fire under these kids....

I think we'll see a shake up, and good luck to those young men because they weren't ND material to begin with if they're leaving now.
I like Fort Wayne's optimism. I just hate to say that the one flaw in the logic is that the change between those years is that there was a new head coach. I hope that's not the answer, I think firing Charlie will put us much further away from where we need to be.
Next year will determine if he's a great recruiter that can only coach other people's players, or if he's the genius we all hope he is.
I get the impression there is going to be a huge staff shake up in the near future, and if Charlie is the guy who will be able to run a great college football program he's going to have to find some new people underneath of him who can preach fundamentals and fire people up. Charlie could be as good a college head coach as anyone ever, but if every coach underneath of him doesn't do their job, no one will ever find out.

CW's best year was his 1st, when he was busy being a QB coach and OC.
The more he has tried to be a real HC the more this team sucks.
"You are what you are" is CW's best quote...he's an OC and QB coach, case closed.

I guess I have to question whether or not you are a fan then. Why would you question the judgment of recruits coming here? Oh I forgot, it is a pretty lousy university and a degree from ND means nothing. Plus there is no football history at that stupid school. The more I think about it the more I think you are right, we really got some stupid recruits coming here. Go throw some snowballs at these clueless recruits would ya.

I am saying that Charlie Weis was the one who brought the Changes to 2005, so if he played a role in the change in 2005 he deserves a chance to turn it around thats all I meant!

Syracuse just brought their 2 wins and their fired coach into OUR house and beat us. What does the Sr class ranking have to do with that? Sophs and Jrs playing with heart and enthusiasm win that game.

Sophs and Jrs playing in the 11th game of the season are now Jrs and Seniors.
Patience is a virtue! I have run out of patience with this staff 9 wins in two years??? My patience has run out.

The point was that losing to syracuse had more to do with execution than playing wit heart and toughness and all the other football "cliches". We make a 30 yard FG and the game is out of reach! Does Charlie weis have to get these players pumped up to execute a simple FG??? I must admit we should have beat syracuse but damn r players play for notre dame and it's senior day if u cant get your self pumped for that maybe something is wrong wit the players too, u cant put it all squarely on coach weis, Coach dosen't need to say shit to those players who bleed blue and gold! All this would be water under the bridge, wit simple execution of a short FG!

Like I said in a previous post... It's getting tough to defend this guy. I hear what you are saying but with each choke, each mental mishap... A certain QB dropping back 40 yards and getting sacked (throw the damn ball away!!!)... Exactly how many damn holds do we get a game again? It's not easy defending this coach or team. Sorry guys but I'm really pissed off. Just the lack of emotion, I mean what the hell? It's even hard to post anything positive right now. That game was ridiculous. Still pissed. This is unacceptable.
I'm at work and can't even concentrate right now. We have to go through a flipping week with this crap on our necks.

I agree with you. At the begining of the season these chokes and mental mishaps were expected but this is the 11th game of the season. Jimmy's little spin move to avoid the rush seems to cost him more times than save him. It is very hard to defend any of the coaches at this point.

I understand everybody frustration i do agree with one point somebody made, we need to higher an offense coordinator! Keep this recruiting class in tact by keeping Charlie Weis and hire a proven spread attack corrdinator. Pro syle attack really dosent fit r personal, we should be fun and gun! If that happens, this 15 years of medioricity that BC kicked us into in '93' will finally be stopped in 2009!

the game should not have come down to making a FG to secure the win. that is the problem. it's syracuse one of the worst teams in D1 football. to not be able to move the ball at will it a sure sign on an offense that has no clue what is going on.

Why would anyone believe that CW bringing in an entire new staff would change anything. This year he brought in Tenuta...great defensive reputation...reputation for linebackers constantly pressuring the QB and recording sacks by the dozens. How many sacks do we have this year??

I agree with the sentiment in regards to change needed in the assistant ranks. Something has to be done with the o-line. I'm sick of d-lineman looking like first round draft picks against ND...

Anyone that has accepted a position of leadership realizes every victory is because of those around you and every loss is your responsibility. I swear after a CW press conference all I hear are excuses. Like it or not when the line does not block well its no one's fault but the HC, when the QB misses a read it's the HC's responsibility, like it or not when the sprinklers go off during the Pitt game...guess what...it's CW's responsibility.
With great priviliges come great responsibility.

my point exactly, tenuta got georgia tech's defense to be one of the most prolific in the country in getting sacks and in total defense. He comes here and those same blitizes and style of defense is not working! So therefore, it must be some type of combination of players and coaches when it comes to responsibility. Maybe we dont need a new off coordinator maybe we just need to execute better just ideas??? For the person that said it should not have came down to a FG, would there be all this uproar about weis has to go if the walker makes the 30 yarder? No, it would be complaining but not a meltdown which we are seeing now!

the meltdown wouldn't be as drastic, but people would still be very upset with a 3 point win over 'Cuse. it shouldn't come down to a FG against a team like that. they should have won this game hands down by atleast 14 points. no ifs ands or buts....

Yes. Pelting the sideline with snowballs is not the right way to make an impression on recruits. If you go back and listen to why recruits chose ND, the majority listed the fans as a major reason. I'd hate to see that ruined by a few bad apples.
