Great name for Lloyd Carr. Boubacar is supposed to be a stud. I remember the buzz in San Antonio for the AAA combine where they had to tell him to take it easy just because they were not seeing the WRs do anything against him. HOWEVER... 5 foot 8 inches!

Good luck vs our 6 foot 3 and up WRs. (I want Baldwin even more having thought about Boub)

Boub committed real early but apparently he is not the most dynamic recruiter (a la Cave). Let's keep smoking UM on the recruiting trail!

5'8 or not the guy is a 5 star stud. For him to get so highly ranked after committing so early and being 5'8 he must be nasty.

yeah that 5 stars is definitely impressive...I'll take a leaping mid six footer anytime though...with any leaping ability that is a sure reception every time

Right... its not that I think the guy can't play. You don't have to be 6'1" to cut off inside access on a slant, or to be on a guy's hip stride for stride down the sideline. You don't have to be 6'1" to get a good jam on a guy at the line, or to play good technique, or to watch the QB's eyes on a zone play. He can play cover corner in college.

That in mind, Notre Dame is certainly targeting big WR's year in and year out. The heights may vary depending on where you read them from, but lets look at some of the guys Cissoko will probably end up facing in college:

2006:
- Richard Jackson 6'3" 204
- Robby Parris 6'3" 201
2007:
- Duval Kamara 6'4" 190
2008:
- John Goodman 6'4" 192

And some other '08 guys we have realistic chances with right now:
- Michael Floyd 6'3" 205
- Jonathan Baldwin 6'6" 225

Point being, Cissoko is giving up 7-8 inches of height and 20-30 pounds when compared to most everyone mentioned. And in the extreme case (Baldwin), he'd be giving up 10 inches and 50 pounds! Any way you slice it, he's facing a serious gap.

I'm not going to be the guy that says he can't play at the collegiate level. He's probably heard it all his life, and he doesn't need another nay-sayer telling him he's too small. That said, he'd better have a ferocious inner drive, stellar quickness and excellent technique if he wants to consistently hang with ND receivers, when we throw it up and tell our WR's "Just jump and get it boys."

By the by, if his combine results from San Antonio are correct, he's not some out of this world leaper. He posted a 33 inch vertical - to give you an idea, John Goodman recorded a 32 inch vertical.

You would think that Weis would go after shorter wide receivers. In New England, David Givens and Deion Branch were his starters. They were both under 6 feet tall.

-----Golden Tate, Barry Gallup, George West, and already having Davis Grimes means we have lots of tiny WR's. I don't think we have to specifcally target a smaller WR right now though, we can just go after whos best regardless of size.

Rocket was great, that dude just ran by people. I want 3 of him. That said, tall has a quality all its own.

Agreed stoney...

Weis won super bowls with Branch and Given, and he put up passing records with Stovall and Samardzija catching passes... he's a versatile guy who could win with either type. That said he has to've made note on how tall receivers can flourish in college (Dwayne Jarrett, Mike Williams, Maurice Stovall, Calvin Johnson, etc).

Keep in mind. Weis was a coordinator, not a GM. If he had the power, I am sure he would have given Givens a few more inches... in height. ;)
