Heard on power hour tha Mike Ragone was not at campus yet. I checked the student directory and he appears to be the only one from 2007 without a listing on campus. Any info?

From what I know, he has a personal issue back home to attend to before coming back to campus.

Don't worry, even if he wanted to leave ND, which he doesn't. He can't just leave, he would lose an entire year of eligibility, he aint going to do that.
Everything is fine with Ragone, he'll be back on campus soon.

Why do they make all this information available? I would think some immature ND fans and most likely, fans from other school would abuse this information. Basically, this is a stalker's dream.

Plus, he's already signed his LOI. He has to be released by Weis before going somewhere else. I know Ragone is not leaving, but I heard that Michigan is facing this dilemma w/ their stud QB recruit from Texas, Ryan Mallett. He signed w/ Michigan, but now is having second thoughts but Carr won't release him. Probably realized just how far Ann Arbor is from Texarkana.

While I am not clear on Mike's situation, I am praying that he is okay. I am also quite sure of his committment to Notre Dame. How am I sure? Well he was practically committed from the get go, committing in April of 2006. I am not so sure on how his rehabilitation has been coming along, and whether or not this would be a factor in his delay in reporting to South Bend, but injuries shouldn't affect his not being here...right? And he was tight/together academically.
Lastly, I too am praying all is well with his family.

I hope that Mallett leaves. Where are they expecting him to go if he leaves Michigan? Rivals has that Nebraska and Texas were his other top choices.

I didn't believe it when I heard it, but my dad swears it's true & he follows this shit. Plus, it was assumed by his early verbal, that when the excitement of going to Michigan wore off, homesickness would set in & he'd commit to a regional school. He looks like the prototypical, drop-back QB everyone envies.

----They had an article interviewing Mallet about that about a month ago and he was considering transferring, but has since become happy where he is. Everyone goes through the homesickness and gotta tough it out, so thats what happend to him, but he's fine with it now.

I just finished listening to an interview on IrishTuesdays 7/3/07. After hearing that...well...I don't know what to think.
All I can say is "Hmmm".
I'm trying not to be to specific, but is anyone with me on this?

Okay, please don't boot me from the site.
I was very unimpressed with <bleep>'s thug attitude during his interview. He even went as far as to make a comment about kicking someone's <bleep> for making comments about his weight. I understand that he is a young teenage boy, but I thought we were bringing in a different kind of "PERSON" as a ND Athlete. How about displaying a little class.
It was obvious that he isn't focused on an education and even commented on why he didn't want to have a lone girlfriend, ie..."You know what I mean?" - His exact words.
Personally, other than being shocked, I was disgusted by his rude, obnoxious attitude, and he may be the only ND Football player who I would NEVER want to see show up to my house to take my daughter on a date. IMO, this kid has trouble written all over him.

:rolleyes:You'd be surprised. ND or not, they are still kids. The real test is what's important to them by the time they get out. If you were that offended by him, you are waaaay out of touch with the average 18 year old male. Here's another shocker for you. There are ND football players drinking at parties. Some of them even break parietals. shhhh.

Wow. Let us just hope that not one of you people who made the sarcastic comments is a parent. Believe it or not, there are actually some very well mannered teenage boys out there, and seeing that I am the parent of four children, I highly doubt I am out of touch with them.
Are you a parent?
Do you encourage your children to be thugs?
Do you think it is okay for teenage boys to disrespect the very thought of women?
Do you want this kind of thing taking place at a college as prestigious as Notre Dame?
Think what you want, but his tact was lacking, and I would be embarrassed if he were my son. I would have never allowed him to speak that way in public while representing himself, his family, and the University of Notre Dame without some form of harsh recourse, which apparently he hasn't seen much of in his life. But hey, I guess that's the norm in your hoods, huh...
Acknowledge this: Do you think Coach Weis would approve of him using that kind of language and innuendo? You people need to rethink what you’re a part of when you claim to be a fan of Notre Dame. We are not Ohio State, or Miami. We are a University with class, that supports tradition and diversity, and IMO this kind of garbage shouldn’t be tolerated and then ignored simply because of his teenager status. Not only is that ridiculous, but it‘s unfair to the kids out there who strive to do well by not behaving like gangsters.
Am I out of touch? I don’t think so. Send a couple of these teenage boys to my house. They’ll come home men.

I don't know why he isn't at ND yet, but can maybe give you a reason. My cousin lives in Jersey, and his last day of classes was the 20th of June. Which I believe was 4 days after ND started summer session.

I am a parent, yes. And you have to realize that talking a certain way doesn't make a kid a thug or a bad person. Every generation has a lingo that is beyond what their elders did. It's easy for older people to write them off as thugs. I admit it, I do it. I see kids dressed a certain way, listening to certain music or speaking with certain slang and I quickly judge them. Then I realize, I gave adults plenty of reasons not to approve of me as a teenager. I'd like to think I turned out OK.
As I said before, the real test of the guy is how he turns out, not how he comes in.
As you have indicated you have daughters, I understand your concern about the innuendo about not having a lone girlfriend, believe me. But remember young men often talk a bigger game than they really play. He's 18 years old. I'm willing to bet if this shocks you, you'd be shocked by over 50% of his teammates at ND. There are pictures of ND players at parties out there. (not on this site) I'm guessing you wouldn't approve. His biggest mistake was not toning it down for the sake of the interview. That's not good judgement. He'll learn.

Please don't compare the way he talked with colleges that have had people arrested for drugs, guns, sexual assault, etc. That kind of hyperbole won't win this argument.

ND recruits kids who can play ball, hit the books and stay out of trouble. That's more than some programs will say. However, these kids's culture may not always be to our liking. That doesn't make them thugs.

I listend to sabbath had long hair and wore t-shirts with pot plants leaves etc etc on them...drove my parents nuts and drew many many stares...I've also owned and ran several very successful businesses...we teach them as best we can and hope for the best...I've come to realize they do less of what we say and mimick what we actually do...he'll come around remember we have an excellent coaching staff

Ok- there is a difference of opinion on Ragone's attitude, no one is going to change their mind about that, so to go back to the original question.
An ND message board poster from Jersey who claims to know Ragone says that he had to take a summer school class because of a red tape issue with the Clearinghouse. The poster says there are no other problems and that Ragone is almost finished with the class. I don't know the poster at all so I can't vouch for his veracity, but logically speaking that story seems to make the most sense.

Just one other comment on Ragone. If ND does not get a WR to complement Goodman, there is a very real chance that with the TE depth coming in, that we may see Ragone playing WR in college. So no matter what any of us think about him, he is a very valuable commodity to the Notre Dame football program.

He mentioned on Power Hour that he doesn't want to switch, but I would think it would initially give him a better shot a PT. He would be hard-pressed to beat out Carlson, and Reuland/Yeatman will be hard to get past. At WR, I would think that he would have a better chance to get more looks; at least in year 1....
I think the guy has great talent and could play either spot, just that he has a better shot to play initially as a WR...and has the footspeed.
