We wouldn't even had heard about it if it weren't for Spygate. Who cares? People need to get over it. It is amazing that this has been a headline for many news outlets though. It is all the haters that keep the Irish in the spotlight, granted, we would rather be in the spotligh for winning, but that will come. In the meantime, all of the idiots that complain about the coverage the Irish get even when they don't win, are the ones responsible for it. If they didn't read it, the media would write it.

I am sorry, but how isnt this news. Its an embarassment that Charlie should 've been very well aware of. With all the scrutiny he has come under for Spygate he should've never even taken the chance of something like this happening. It is a major disappointment just because of the criticism that will follow.

It doesnt matter what he was doin. The problem is he cast a shadow of doubt about what was going on. There is no excuse!!!! Now Nd will have to hear about cheating scandals etc..... If Weis knew about it he should be gone based on sheer stupidity.

It is an embarrassment and it is against the rules.

“It wasn’t like there was somebody trying to do something illegal,” Weis said.

What happened to "No excuses"? It looks stupid and therefor it is stupid.

There were no cheating scandals. With that being said Weis should be gone due to the fact a bunch of ND haters speak ignorantly? You know how many coaches, elected officials or any other public people would be fired?

I understand the concern for public perception in which I agree with to a point. You can't base how you run your program because you're afraid of what people might think all the time. If you are doing what's within the rules then it's obviously fair game.

BTW, we call for Weis's head every two minutes....

I got a ticket for parking... That darn Weis... FIRE HIM!!!

John: You seen the gas prices?

Joe: Yeah that darn Weis. It's his fault. His team scored a touchdown and caused the captain of an oil rig to celebrate. When he did he crashed into a reef spilling oil into the ocean. HOW COME WEIS DIDN'T KNOW THAT!!! He should be Fired!!!

John: Who are you tellin...

If he was really cheating he did a poor job of it. It sure didn't help ND on the field. Give me a break.

What he was doing was not within the rules. It was blatantly against the rules. Weis is supposed to be a model for the University Of Nd and the bad perception that this may bring shows his lack of professionalism. He already is cast in a bad light because of "Spygate", so why put yourself in a postion to have more bad press about cheating?

Re-read my post. I said if Weis knew about it he should be gone. He of all people should know the rules and especially something like this which would make him and the University look so bad. I only called for charlie's head if he knew about it, because he went to great lengths to tell the media how it was a surprise to him etc...... If what he told the media is the absolute truth then fine, but if he in fact did know about it it would be a major embarassment to the University.

By the way, I am someone who sits in the stands at ND and has the right to voice his opinion about the state of the team no matter which # post this is for me. I normally just read, but am disgusted, not by the loss, but by the fact that something like this has happend with the loss. I would rather lose 12 games then have the hint of any wrongdoing or cheating. Excuse me if i care about the image of the University along with the number of wins we get.

I agree with the sentiment but let's wait and see what happens first before we ask for a coaching replacement. Just seems folks are too eager to call for a firing nowadays.

Man everything hits the fan after a loss...

on the cheating scale this ranks about as close to the bottom as it can get. Was it against the rules yes, was it dumb yes. Lets not make more of this than it is, a student brought a laptop into the coaches booth thats all. To call for the coach to be fired or to step down is WAYYYY over board.

I can't believe i've not only wasted time reading your posts, but now i'll have to reply to them.

Listen, I really don't care where you sit. You're blowing this stupid article way out of proportion. Now that you're 4 posts deep into it, maybe relax? If ND is relying on using some dumb interns to cheat our way to victory this entire program is more doomed than all the haters will ever spew. If you thought rationally for one second you would realize how pointless this is.

Then again, I hope you be trolling because I pray there is a god in heaven there isn't someone as naive as you.

Ok I'm a little more informed. It seems like an honest mistake. It's not like he was getting an advantage. If he was cheating he did a poor job of it. We still lost...

With that being said, that is my last post on this. Now to find another reason to fire Charlie...

i'm sorry, but i have to agree with folks that take issue with this. NCAA rules clearly state that no laptops are allowed up there. i support CW, but with his past in New England, i find it fishy.

rules are rules. no ifs, ands or buts.

Being an offensive coordinator of a team that has been documented for breaking the rules. The whole dynasty of NE can be questioned. Thats why CW cannot let something as ridculous as this episode occur. No matter how trivial it seems thru the golden dome eyes of some here, it smells of stupidity. I would say it is on par with the Yeatman situation in that although Yeatman may or maynot have done anything wrong it was just stupid to put himself in that situation.

I agree that it is trivial. I just dont like that CW would do anything to cast a shadow of doubt, thats all. I by no means think it is a huge deal.........i just said it was stupid to even allow it to happen. If CW wasnt the coach there would be nothing at all to it, but given his relationship with Belichick it causes some raised eyebrows........thats all. with the hits the program has taken the last years and a half i just don't want to hear about crap like this. Enough said.

i saw somebody posted some article from that stupid ass b***h from foxsports, guess she had to dedicate a whole editoral to this non issue and suspect Weis of cheating and linking him to spygate. That whole issue has been resolved and the head coach from MSU said this was a non issue and that there is nothing to this.

NOW, if the opposing teams head coach is saying this is a non issue, shouldn't that tell all of these people something?

if these two guys were sitting 2 more feet over, its a non issue, but because they weren't, this bullshit is going around.

Give me a break already people. IF Sparty says this is stupid and a non issue, can't we stop with all this shit

it is pretty obvious they were cheating. belichek basically admitted it to the owners in the owners meeting this past spring. if the head coach was cheating, it's safe to say all the coaches were.

Always a safe bet to speculate.

I think it's ridiculous to say we might be cheating. Personally I think it was an honest mistake. If Weis "The Cheat" (my new nickname) has been doing this (cheating) for the past 4 years don't you think he would have been caught by now? We are talking about a Student Mgr. that is in the booth on the 3rd floor with a laptop in front of him typing stuff. Since Weis is so adept at cheating, especially because he was with the Patriots, and that is all they do is learn how to cheat there, don't you think he would have been a little more discreet with his Student Mgr.?

Hey, I'm as quick to push this aside as the next person but it's the last thing we need. MSU does not look like they are going to do anything about it, Dantonio blew it off according to some sources in Michigan. Had we won......however..........this would have been a huge deal!!! I'm not sure what (if anything) the NCAA will/can do about it but it makes the head coach look like a jerk and no one believes anything he says at this point anyway (see the Patriots and the last MSU scandal "slappy-gate").

I'm ready to move on to the next head coach.
